สัปดาห์สุดท้ายไม่อยากให้พลาดนิทรรศการ Sou•ve•nir - A thing that is kept as a reminder of a person, place, or event นิทรรศการจาก 2 ศิลปินเนเธอร์แลนด์ และ 1 ศิลปินหญิงชาวไทย จัดแสดง-26 พฤษภาคม นี้เท่านั้น ที่ People’s Gallery : พีเพิล แกลเลอรี่ ชั้น 2 หอศิลปวัฒนธรรมแห่งกรุงเทพมหานคร

นิทรรศการ Sou•ve•nir แสดงถึงการมีอยู่ร่วมกันระหว่างธรรมชาติกับสิ่งที่ถูกสร้างขึ้นมา รูปทรงเลขาคณิต กับรูปทรงธรรมชาติ ความมืดมิดกับสีสันสดใส เวลากับปัจจุบันขณะ และความทรงจำกับสิ่งของ โดยจะประกอบ ด้วยซีรี่ส์ของ Soft sculpture ซึ่งทำจากเส้นใยธรรมชาติ และพลาสติกไนลอน รวมกับการออกแบบ Fashion design, Video Projection, การถ่ายภาพ และงานศิลปะแบบ Mixed Media

CORSAGE-STUDIO เคยได้รับรางวัล Jury Price จากนิทรรศการ 'The Future of Fashion is Now' ที่ Boijmans van Beuningen Museum, Rotterdam,the Netherlands ด้วยโปรเจกต์ HAT-DRESSES ซึ่งเป็นการออกแบบ เครื่องแต่งกายจากใยป่านศรนารายณ์ จากโครงการ The Hup Kapong Royal Project Learning Centre งานศิลปะชุดนี้เกิดจากความคิดที่จะเปลี่ยนรูปร่างของหมวกให้เป็นเครื่องนุ่งห่ม โดยมีความแปลกใหม่และความท้าทายตรงที่ศิลปินจะต้องค้นหามุมมองเกี่ยวกับเครื่องประดับเดิมที่มีอยู่แล้วควบคู่ไปกับการระดมสมอง คิดไอเดียใหม่ๆ ว่าสิ่งนั้นๆ จะสามารถปรับเปลี่ยนเป็นอย่างอื่นในรูปแบบไหนได้บ้าง

งานศิลปะของทศพร สุธรรม สะท้อนถึงแนวคิดสำคัญเกี่ยวกับธรรมะซึ่งสามารถตีความได้หลากหลายตามลัทธิ ศาสนา ในทางพระพุทธศาสนา ธรรมมะหมายถึง วัฏจักร ที่พระพุทธเจ้าทรงตรัสว่าไม่มีสิ่งใดจีรังยั่งยืน ทุกอย่าง เกิดขึ้น ตั้งอยู่ และดับไป ด้วยแนวคิดในความไม่ยืนยงถาวรของสรรพสิ่ง ทศพรได้สร้างสรรค์งานศิลปะเกี่ยวกับ การอยู่นอกเหนือเงื่อนไขของกาลเวลา ในขณะดียวกันก็อยู่กับปัจจุบัน ด้วยแนวคิดนี้งานของทศพร จึงแสดงให้เห็นถึง ความตระหนักรู้และการมีสติ รวมถึงบันทึกความทรงจำในช่วงเวลานั้นๆ ผ่านงานศิลปะของเธอ

A souvenir (from French, for a remembrance or memory), memento, keepsake, or token of remembrance is an object a person acquires for the memories the owner associates with it. A souvenir can be any object that can be collected or purchased and transported home by the traveler as a memento of a visit. While there is no set minimum or maximum cost that one is required to adhere to when purchasing a souvenir, etiquette would suggest to keep it within a monetary amount that the receiver would not feel uncomfortable with when presented the souvenir. The object itself may have intrinsic value, or be a symbol of experience. Without the owner's input, the symbolic meaning is invisible and cannot be articulated.

While traveling to different countries, one sometimes wonders what tourism is all about; with all its positive and negative sides, beauty and ugliness, tourism has a major impact on us and on the world we live in. For us as artists, getting inspired is the most important reason to travel. Experiencing different cultures open up our eyes and creates new perspectives and understanding of the world. In a globalized world it is crucial to understand each other. By looking over the boarder and by working together we create the opportunity to find solutions for complex topics we all are facing in the world today. We consider ourselves fortunate that we have visit Thailand and other countries in Asia for several times now. With this exhibition we want to show our appreciation for the inspiration that Thailand has given us over the years. This project shows where inspiration can lead to: starting with buying a souvenir, a sun hat, in the souvenir shop of The King's Summer Palace in Hua Hin, to this group exhibition. Sometimes a souvenir can become more than a memory……………

The exhibition; Sou•ve•nir highlights the juxtaposition of natural next to artificial, geometric next to organic, blackness next to colourful, time(less) next to the present(moment) and memory next to matter. It consists of a series of soft sculptures made from natural fibers and nylon plastics. combined with fashion design, video projection, photography and mixed media artworks on the walls of The People’s gallery in Bangkok Art & Culture Centre (BACC).

About CORSAGE-STUDIO  (Netherlands)
CORSAGE-STUDIO is an artist/designers collective whose work combines design and visual arts – fields that both affect and deepen each other – developing clothing concepts rather than fashion collections, based in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, the collective creates design and art from their outsider’s point of view, with a background in conceptual art, illustration, video and photography. Because they see themselves as a collective, CORSAGE-STUDIO strongly believes in collaboration. Artist/designers collective CORSAGE-STUDIO consists of conceptual artist Rabin Huissen and video artist Robert Stroomberg.

CORSAGE-STUDIO won the jury price in the exhibtion 'The Future of Fashion is Now' in museum Boijmans van Beuningen, Rotterdam - the Netherlands with a garment from project HAT-DRESSES. The garment was made from sisal material of the Hup Kapong Royal Project Learning Centre. The collection is based on the idea of expanding a hat that it evolves into a garment. The HAT-DRESSES project is unique because it challenges and explores existing views on what an accessory is and what it could look like as well as it brings new ideas on what a piece of clothing can be. At the same time HAT-DRESSES wants to underline the potential value and the importance of the accessory in the fashion industry where fashion is seen as something seasonal and changing, accessories have a longer-term value. One of the aims of the project is to widen up the domain of accessories into pieces of clothing to make the fashion industry more sustainable by developing long lasting products.

About Thosaporn Suthum (Thailand)
The art of Thosaporn Suthum is based on the concept of Dhamma. Dhamma is used as a key concept with multiple meaning in Asian religion. In Buddhism the meaning of Dhamma is “cosmic law and order” and applies to the teachings of the Buddha. It is said that in life nothing lasts forever,‎ all things happen, they arise, exist and fall.‎ By resurging variation of impermanence in Dhamma and Buddhism Thosaporn Suthum attemps to create artworks by being independent of time while being in the moment without including it. ‎In this way her artworks are the materialization of her attempts to be aware of the moment and of herself in time while creating the work. One could say that her artworks represents the visualization of a memory in time.
