BGRIM Power plants move on to meet June 2021 on-stream date

B.Grimm Power Plc ((BGRIM) confirmed that its two major power projects, with a combined generating capacity of  240 megawatts, will proceed as planned despite a change of location.

BGRIM President Preeyanart said shifting of the project site, from Ratchaburi to Samut Prakan, will not impact the scheduled commercial operation date (SCOD), set in 2021.

The Company is seeking permission from the Energy Regulatory Commission to change the location of the BGPR1 and BGPR2 co-generation facilities.

At the same time, BGRIM has coordinated with the relevant authorities including the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), the buyer of power supply, to make available grid connection and substation at the new location of the power plants.

Once approval from ERC is granted, BGRIM will commence construction of the projects which are to be completed within 24-26 months before the power sale agreement with EGAT takes effect on June 1, 2021.

“We are striving to meet the SCOD timeline, and no change is foreseen, at least for the time being," Mrs Preeyanart noted.BGPR1 and BGPR2 were originally set to be located in the V.R.M. Industrial Estate located in Ratchburi.

But the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT) later cancelled the estate development in Ratchaburi.

That has prompted BGRIM to move the projects to the Asia Industrial Estate, situated in Samut Prakan which is attracting industrial ventures from local and international companies.

The BGRIM facilities will serve to strengthen security of power supply, not only to the Samut Prakan neighbourhood and Bangkok, but in the area of Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) development which requires significant electricity supply, Mrs Preeyanart concluded.
