HAT YAI-AirAsia officially launches its "Hat Yai Flight Base" connecting Hat Yai to 6 destinations including Bangkok (Don Mueang), Chiang Mai, Pattaya (U-Tapao), Kuala Lumpur and most recently Chiang Rai and Johor Bahru, Malaysia. The airline is confident that Hat Yai will serve as a strategic hub for connections throughout the region and ASEAN for both travel and investment. The launch was held at Central Festival Hat Yai with presenter Nadech Kugimiya in attendance to invite all to experience AirAsia's Truly Low Fares, Trusted Quality.
Mr. Songpol Sawasditham, Governor of Songkhla, stated that Songkhla and its city of Hat Yai are a center for commerce, investment and tourism in the southern region with ever expanding economies, making Hat Yai a prime location for Thai AirAsia to establish its latest flight base.
"All 6 routes operated by AirAsia have great growth potential, especially its new Chiang Rai and Johor Bahru routes as they are both cities with distinct travel attractions and serve as connections to other destinations. The new routes respond to the new demands of the ASEAN Economic Community with Chiang Rai which connects to Lao PDR and Myanmar (through Mae Sai) while Johor Bahru is only an hour away from Singapore. Hat Yai itself is brimming with travel and trade opportunities, making this new network of routes one full of opportunity" Mr. Songpol explained.
Mr. Tassapon Bijleveld, CEO of Thai AirAsia, pointed out that 12 years ago, AirAsia launched its first flight from Bangkok to Hat Yai. The route was warmly received and led to continued growth and a present 6 routes out of Hat Yai, which include; Hat Yai to Bangkok 8 flights per day, Chiang Mai 2 flights per day, Pattaya (U-Tapao) 4 flights per week, Kuala Lumpur 10 flights per week and the new additions of one daily flight from Hat Yai to Chiang Rai and Johor Bahru. The extensive network maintains all of AirAsia's hallmarks, from its stellar on-time record and care for safety to its low fares.
"The people of Songkhla's Hat Yai and its surrounding provinces have given their trust to AirAsia for over 12 years, as evidenced by the year-round 80-85% average load factor we have maintained on the 4 routes we have operated to the city over the years. We are confident that we will receive the same trust in our 2 new routes to Chiang Rai and Johor Bahru when they begin on 1 April 2016 at a promotional fare starting at only 990 THB per trip" Mr. Tassapon said.
For the official launch of its new flight base in Hat Yai, AirAsia flew its top presenter, Nadech Kugimiya, to the city to invite all the people of the southern region to find out that for "Truly Low Fares and Trusted Quality, Fly Airasia". Find more details on promotional fares at
