‘Baba’ or ‘Peranakan’ are terms used to refer to the descendants of the late 19th Century Chinese immigrants who settled in Phuket around 200 years ago. A Baba wedding traditionally used to be a statement of the wealth and social standing of the family, and was regarded as one of the most important ceremonies in a Baba’s life.
