Bangkok hosts Global Culinary Cup
Bangkok, 11 August 2009 — The Thai Hotels Association, the Thai Restaurant Association and the Thai Chefs Association, in conjunction with the organiser Bangkok Exhibition Services Ltd. (BES), announced their support for Food & Hotel Thailand 2009, the 17th international hotel, catering, bakery, food & beverage and retail supplies trade exhibition.
This global food & hospitality event will be held between 2 and 5 September this year at the Royal Paragon Hall, Siam Paragon, in the heart of Bangkok.
According to Prakit Chinamourphong, President of the Thai Hotels Association, “Food & Hotel Thailand has become the region’s most prestigious and all-encompassing food, hotel and hospitality trade event. It will be an impressive international assembly where trade buyers meet with international manufactures, and will provide an abundance of networking opportunities for everyone involved in the industry, plus up-to-date information and new trends delivered by industry experts that will allow for business development and value creation.”

At FHT 2009, the Thai Hotels Association will also host of annual Hotel & Restaurant Congress, which will be joined by hoteliers and representatives from each ASEAN country. Participants will meet and share the latest information concerning the hotel industry and address all issues facing the region’s hotel and restaurant industry.
Mrs Supawan Teerarat, Acting President of Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), a co-supporter of the event, said: “following the extraordinary success of last year’s event with attracted almost 22,600 visitors from 61 countries, the Food & Hotel Thailand 2009 is now being remarked as the one of the vital international trade fairs in Thailand and holds the unique status of being “Asia’s 5 stars Hospitality Event”. TCEB is therefore extending a series of support; marketing updates, partnering opportunities and a wide range of attractive scheme, to this show.”

Registered exhibiting companies, for instance, include Nestle, Lucky Flame, S & P Syndicate, Royal Porcelain, Bon Café’ Coffee, Ebisu Seafoods, BVZ Fabrics, American European, Aroma Group, HIS Softbrand and national pavilion from Japan, USA, South Africa and Korea.
To enhance the entire experience, FHT 2009 encompasses many specialised events such as the 1st Asian Culinary Cup by the World Association of Chefs Societies (WACS), with an assembly of more than 550 award-winning chefs from around the world; the Wedding Flower Decoration Festival by the Executive Housekeeper Association of Thailand; and the International Wine Challenge by the Food and Beverage Association of Thailand.
To improve the industry standard for each sector according to the government initiative to promote “Thai Kitchen to World,” associations will also host insightful conferences and showcase activities such as a seminar on Thai Kitchen Standards by the Thai Restaurant Association; and the Bartending Competition by the Thai Hotel Association.
This year’s event is expected to attract more than 25,000 visitors from over 50 countries.
