Hino and The Department of Land Transport
Launching the project “Producing professional drivers by transportation school”




                    Hino Motors Sales (Thailand) Ltd. together with the Department of Land Transport organized a project to create professional drivers by the transportation school to produce quality drivers according to the company's policy which is ready to be the leader of truck and bus transformation which not only generates maximum profit but brings value to Hino customers and continues to create great things to the society


                    Bangkok - On June 2023, Mr. Ken Iwamoto, President of Hino Motors Sales (Thailand) Ltd. attended the opening ceremony of the project​ “Producing professional drivers by transportation school” with the cooperation between Hino and the Department of Land Transport. On this occasion, it was a great honor to have the Vice President for Academic Affairs of Department of Land Transport, Ms. Sirirat Weeravisan and the President of the Land Transport Federation, Mr. Apichat Prairungruang, together with the presidents of the Transport Association from all over the country attending the event at the large truck driving center of Department of Land Transport, Lam Luk Ka District, Pathum Thani Province.


                    For the purpose of this project, Vice President for Academic Affairs Department of Land Transport, Ministry of Transport, Ms. Sirirat Weeravisan stated “The government, including the Department of Land Transport has a policy to develop efficient road transport. The key element which will help achieve the goal is “quality drivers”. Quality drivers must consist of both skills, abilities, and experiences in order to be able to drive safely and be environment friendly. The project is another commitment of the Department of Land Transport to produce quality and skilled drivers to the transport sectors.


                    The project draws out the potential of the transportation school, Department of Land Transport which is ready for both academics, personnel and places, along with the support of the private sector which is Hino Motors Sales (Thailand) Ltd.  The company cares about developing the quality of drivers and has supported both the budget and the vehicles used for driving training for the trainees. We aim to improve the skills of the driver and also create a quality workforce into the labor market. There will be excellent projects coming continually from the Department of Land Transport and Hino Motors Sales (Thailand) Ltd.


                    The objective is in line with the objectives of Hino Motors Sales (Thailand) Ltd. Mr. Day Yingchol, Executive Vice President, stated that this project is one of the master plans. Hino has planned on training the drivers. The company has created and developed drivers from the basic training course for those who do not yet have a driver's license to learning the basics of driving Hino trucks, fuel-efficient driving and safe driving. We aim to lay the foundation of truck knowledge before the actual driving. You can train via E-learning at any time and there is also an advanced training course called Hino Smart Driver (the Hino Truck Professional Driving Program)


                    The training content covers all 3 courses of trucking, truck towing and semi-trailer and trucks towing trailers. Hino plans on driver training from upstream to downstream, you can train with Hino without basic knowledge up until being able to have a driving license for a career. Importantly, Hino's curriculum is certified by the Department of Land Transport which can be regarded as an excellent collaboration between the government and the private sector. This project is a sign of cooperation as I have mentioned. If you pass the criteria set by the Department of Transport, the door to your career is already broad at all time.


                    Mr. Apichat Prairungruang, President of the Land Transport Federation of Thailand as an entrepreneur, stated that, “This project is considered a great project. Thanks to the Department of Land Transport and Hino Motors Sales (Thailand) Ltd. for supporting such a good project. This does not only create careers and quality drivers to Thai society but also helps entrepreneurs to have professional drivers. I believe that if we entrepreneurs, the government by the Department of Land Transport and the private sectors like Hino Motors Sales (Thailand) Ltd. cooperate, we can definitely create great things to change Thailand.


                    The project​ “Producing professional drivers by transportation school”, has a total of 30 students. The duration of the training is 5 days, starting from 12 - 16 June 2023 with no cost. Accommodation and meals are included during the training. The training is divided into theoretical sections on knowledge of road traffic laws, automobile law, land transport law, highway law, Law on the Protection of Victims from Motor Vehicle Accidents, civil law and criminal law, knowledge of insurance and liability, introduction to dangerous goods, transportation practice in case of emergency, first aid and assistance in driving; accident, hazard perception, human relations and etiquette in driving, health and wellness, driver duties, vehicle maintenance, the core of transportation service and duties and responsibilities of drivers from small to big vehicles.


                    For the practical part, it consists of vehicle and equipment inspection, steering wheel turning, how to see the car's blind spots to prevent danger, night driving and driving training for up to 13 training bases. In this training, trainees will be learning from 6-wheel trucks, both Hino 300 innovator and Hino 500 FC Dominator. The overview of this project will definitely be an important part in driving the business and sustainable development for the country.
