แลนเซสส์ (LANXESS) เข้าร่วมโครงการลดการใช้สารเคมีอันตรายในอุตสาหกรรมให้เหลือศูนย์ (ZDHC)

• มุ่งมั่นให้ได้รับใบรับรองระดับ 3 จาก Chem-MAPกรุงเทพมหานคร, วันที่ 14 พฤษภาคม พ.ศ. 2561 - แลนเซสส์ผู้นำในอุตสาหกรรมสารเคมีชนิดพิเศษเข้าร่วมโครงการลดการใช้สารเคมีอันตรายในอุตสาหกรรมให้เหลือศูนย์ หรือ ZDHC Program หนึ่งในแผนการริเริ่มที่ใหญ่ที่สุดในโลกเพื่อสร้างสรรค์ความยั่งยืนให้เกิดขึ้นในอุตสาหกรรมสิ่งทอและเครื่องนุ่งห่มของโลก โดยองค์กรความร่วมมือของบริษัทกว่า 80 แห่งทั่วโลก โครงการ ZDHC (Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals)มีแนวทางที่มองอย่างองค์รวมเพื่อลดการใช้สารเคมีอันตรายในห่วงโซ่อุปทานของการผลิตผลิตภัณฑ์สิ่งทอ เครื่องหนัง และ รองเท้า
ZDHC Foundation เป็นสถาบันที่ตั้งขึ้นมาเมื่อ พ.ศ. 2554 โดยมีจุดมุ่งหมายเพื่อที่จะปรับปรุงการจัดการเคมีภัณฑ์ให้เกิดความยั่งยืน (sustainability) ก่อนหน้านั้นหน่วยธุรกิจเครื่องหนังของแลนเซสส์ได้เข้าร่วมองค์กร Tegewa เพื่อร่วมกำหนดรายชื่อสารเคมีต้องห้ามในกระบวนการผลิตอุตสาหกรรม (Manufacturing Restricted Substances Lists: MRSL) เพื่อที่จะเข้าถึงข้อมูลข่าวสารได้อย่างเต็มที่และมีส่วนร่วมมากยิ่งขึ้นในกระบวนการตัดสินใจกำหนดรายชื่อสารเคมีที่อันตราย ทางแลนเซสส์จึงเข้าร่วมเป็นผู้สนับสนุนในห่วงโซ่อุปทาน (Supply Chain Contributor) ของโครงการ ZDHCรายชื่อผลิตภัณฑ์ของแลนเซสส์ถูกแสดงไว้ใน ZDHC GatewayZDHC Gateway Chemical Module เป็นแพลตฟอร์มการแลกเปลี่ยนข้อมูลข่าวสารที่มีความสอดคล้องกัน (compatible) ระบบแรกของ ZDHC เพื่อให้ผู้ผลิตสารเคมีและสูตรเคมีทั้งหลายสามารถแลกเปลี่ยนข้อมูลข่าวสารกันได้อย่างปลอดภัย สามารถทำตามมาตรฐานและเข้าถึงเครื่องมือของ ZDHC โรงงานผู้ผลิตผลิตภัณฑ์สินค้าแบรนด์ทั้งหลาย ร่วมทั้งผู้ผลิตสิ่งทอ รองเท้าและเครื่องหนัง สามารถใช้ซอฟต์แวร์โมดูลนี้เพื่อแบ่งปันข้อมูลข่าวสารและสร้างความมั่นใจว่าได้ทำตามมาตรฐานอุตสาหกรรมของ ZDHC เพื่อลดการใช้สารเคมีอันตรายลง
การทดแทนสารเคมีอันตรายด้วยสารเคมีที่อันตรายน้อยกว่าที่มีความเป็นไปได้ทางเทคนิค เป็นแนวทางในการวิจัยและพัฒนาของหน่วยงานเครื่องหนังของแลนเซสส์ ดังนั้นแลนเซสส์จึงเลิกใช้สารเคมีอันตรายเหล่านั้นไปก่อนที่ ZDHC จะประกาศรายชื่อสารเคมีต้องห้ามในกระบวนการผลิตอุตสาหกรรมเครื่องหนัง (ZDHC MRSL for leather) ออกมาในเดือนธันวาคม พ.ศ. 2558 เสียอีก จะมีเพียงผลิตภัณฑ์เพียงบางชนิดเท่านั้นที่ยังคงพบว่าถูกใช้ในขั้นตอนของการผลิตวัตถุดิบ ซึ่งกำลังมีการดำเนินการหาสารเคมีอื่นมาทดแทนเช่นกัน
ตั้งแต่ปี พ.ศ. 2559 แลนเซสส์เป็นหนึ่งในบริษัทที่อยู่ในรายชื่อแรกของผู้ผลิตสารเคมีสำหรับอุตสาหกรรมเครื่องหนังที่มีผลิตภัณฑ์ซึ่งสอดคล้องตามกฎเกณฑ์ของ ZDHC MRSL จึงถูกนำขึ้นประกาศไว้ในระบบ ZDHC gateway ของอุตสาหกรรมนี้ซึ่งขณะนี้ทำงานได้อย่างสมบูรณ์แล้ว โดยผลิตภัณฑ์ที่สอดคล้องกับหลักเกณฑ์จะถูกอัพโหลดขึ้นสู่ระบบ ให้ผู้ผลิตรายอื่น ๆ ในห่วงโซ่อุปทานนี้สามารถเข้าถึงได้และนำข้อมูลที่เก็บไว้นี้นำไปใช้ต่อไป
“เราเป็นบริษัทอุตสาหกรรมเคมีที่สนับสนุนในเชิงรุกต่อโครงการริเริ่มนี้และเรายังทุ่มทั้งแรงงานและเงินทุนไปในการสร้างหลักการพื้นฐานในการช่วยกำหนดรายชื่อสารเคมีอันตรายนี้ให้ชัดเจน เราคาดหวังให้เจ้าของผลิตภัณฑ์แบรนด์ทั้งหลายยึดมั่นในพันธสัญญานี้และบังคับให้ผู้ผลิตในห่วงโซ่อุปทานของตนผลิตสินค้าโดยสอดคล้องกับ MRSL” กล่าวโดย ด็อกเตอร์ โธมาส แบรกเอร์เมเยอร์ (Dr. Thomas Brackermeyer ) หัวหน้าหน่วยธุรกิจสายผลิตภัณฑ์ Organic Leather Chemicals ของแลนเซสส์มุ่งมั่นให้ได้รับใบรับรองระดับ 3 จาก Chem-MAPThe Chem-MAP value chain program ถูกพัฒนาขึ้นมาโดย BLC Leather Technology Center เพื่อตอบสนองความต้องการในการทดสอบเพื่อให้การรับรอง (verification) แก่สารเคมีที่ใช้ในกระบวนการผลิตและมีเป้าหมายสำหรับผู้มีส่วนได้เสีย (stakeholders) ในห่วงโซ่อุปทานของสินค้าอุปโภคบริโภค 3 กลุ่มได้แก่ โรงงานผู้ผลิตสารเคมี โรงงานผู้ผลิตผลิตภัณฑ์ และบริษัทเจ้าของแบรนด์ทั้งหลายร่วมถึงผู้ค้าปลีกอีกด้วย
โครงการต้องการสร้างความมั่นใจว่าผลิตภัณฑ์เคมีที่ถูกนำมาใช้สอดคล้องกับข้อกำหนดของ MRSL และโรงงานผู้ผลิตสารเคมีมีการบริหารจัดการที่เพียงพอในเรื่องของการมีระบบควบคุมดูแลที่เหมาะสมเพื่อให้มั่นใจว่าผลิตภัณฑ์เคมีนั้นผลิตขึ้นมาด้วยการมีความรับผิดชอบและสอดคล้องกับมาตรฐาน กระบวนการนี้สำหรับแลนเซสส์ประกอบไปด้วยมีกระบวนการประเมินอย่างหนักแน่นโดยกำหนดให้มีโครงการตรวจสอบ (audit) และทดสอบ (test) ไล่ลงไปตามลำดับของเส้นทางที่มาของผลิคภัณฑ์ต่าง ๆ (downstream) ตลอดถึงการตรวจสอบและทดสอบติดตามไปถึงโรงงานผลิตภัณฑ์เคมีของผู้จำหน่ายให้แก่แลนเซสส์
The BLC Chem-MAP เป็นระบบแรกที่ได้รับการอนุมัตจาก ZDHC เพื่อให้ได้ใบรับรองขั้นสูงสุดคือระดับ 3 (level 3 certification) กระบวนการทดสอบนี้จะใช้ระยะเวลาพอสมควร เพราะมีผลิตภัณฑ์มากกว่า 500 ผลิตภัณฑ์ของแลนเซสส์ที่เข้ารับการตรวจสอบ ความก้าวหน้าในการตรวจสอบสามารถดูได้ตลอดเวลา “เรามุ่งมั่นกับการตรวจสอบนี้มาก ระหว่างที่การตรวจสอบนี้คืบหน้าไป จำนวนรายชื่อผลิตภัณฑ์ที่ทดสอบผ่านในหน้าข้อมูล (profile) ของแลนเซสส์บน Gateway ก็จะเพิ่มขึ้นไปเรื่อย ๆ จนกระทั่งผลิตภัณฑ์ทุกตัวของเราถูกทดสอบครบและผ่านได้รับการรับรองระดับ 3 ในที่สุด” กล่าวโดยด็อกเตอร์มาร์ติน เคลบาน (Dr.Martin Kleban) ซึ่งเป็นตัวแทนของ HSEQ แห่งหน่วยธุรกิจผลิตภัณฑ์เครื่องหนังของแลนเซสส์ข้อมูลเบื้องต้นเกี่ยวกับแลนเซสส์แลนเซสส์เป็นบริษัทผู้นำในอุตสาหกรรมสารเคมีชนิดพิเศษ (specialty chemicals) มียอดรายได้รวมกว่า 9.7 พันล้านยูโร (ประมาณ 3.78 แสนล้านบาท) ในปี พ.ศ. 2560 และมีพนักงาน 19,200 คนอยู่ใน 25 ประเทศทั่วโลก มีโรงงานทั่วโลกถึง 74 แห่ง

• Level 3 certification via Chem-MAPBangkok – On May 14, 2018, specialty chemicals company LANXESS joined the ZDHC Program, an association of more than 80 companies within the world’s largest initiative for sustainability in the textile and clothing industry. The ZDHC Program (Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals) takes a holistic approach to reducing the use of hazardous substances in the global textile, leather and footwear value chain.
The ZDHC Foundation, which was established in 2011 as the ZDHC initiative, has set itself the goal of improving sustainability and chemicals management. Even at that time, LANXESS’s Leather business unit, represented by the industry organization Tegewa, contributed to the development of the Manufacturing Restricted Substances List (MRSL). To increase visibility and to be directly involved in decision-making processes, LANXESS has now decided to become a Supply Chain Contributor to the ZDHC program.LANXESS products listed in the ZDHC gatewayThe ZDHC Gateway Chemical Module is the first compatible ZDHC data exchange platform that enables manufacturers of chemical substances and formulations to securely exchange information in accordance with ZDHC standards and tools. Brand manufacturers and textile, footwear and leather suppliers use the module to ensure conformance with ZDHC industry standards to reduce the use of hazardous chemicals.
The principle of replacing hazardous chemicals with less hazardous ones wherever technically possible has always been a guideline for research and development in the LANXESS Leather business unit. As a consequence, all substances identified by ZDHC had already been removed from the LANXESS portfolio when the ZDHC MRSL for leather was published in December 2015. Only very few products in which traces of listed substances were introduced via the raw materials used required subsequent replacement.
Since 2016, LANXESS has thus been one of the first suppliers of chemicals for leather manufacturers to offer a product list compliant with the ZDHC MRSL criteria. As the ZDHC gateway is now fully functional for this product area, consequently all compliant products should be uploaded into the system. This gives other actors in the supply chain unrestricted access and enables the use of the stored information.
“As the chemical industry proactively supports the initiative and invests a substantial amount of effort and money to create a solid basis for decision-making, we expect brand manufacturers to stand by their commitment and enforce the use of MRSL-compliant products in their supply chain,” says Dr. Thomas Brackemeyer, head of the Organic Leather Chemicals business line at LANXESS.Level 3 certification via Chem-MAPThe Chem-MAP value chain program was developed by the BLC Leather Technology Center in response to the need for verification of chemical inputs and is aimed at the three main stakeholders in a consumer goods value chain: the chemical manufacturing company, the materials manufacturer and the brand company and/or retailer.
The program ensures that chemical products are sold in accordance with the MRSL specification and that chemical manufacturers have adequate management including appropriate control systems to ensure that chemical products are manufactured responsibly and to recognized standards. This process involves a solid assessment of LANXESS through an audit and test program and further downstream validation through plant audits and monitoring tests of the chemical products supplied.
The BLC Chem-MAP is the first system approved by the ZDHC that ultimately leads to a Level 3 certification, the highest achievable level. The process will take some time for the approximately 500 products in the LANXESS portfolio. During this time, the progress in the gateway can be observed. “I expect that while the certification is in progress, the number of products on the LANXESS gateway profile page will continuously shift until all of them meet Level 3,” says Dr. Martin Kleban, HSEQ delegate in the Leather business unit.LANXESS is a leading specialty chemicals company with sales of EUR 9.7 billion in 2017 and about 19,200 employees in 25 countries.
