กรุงเทพฯ (28 กันยายน 2560) – ประเทศญี่ปุ่นถือเป็นจุดหมายปลายทางในการเดินทางของคนไทยหลายคน ที่ต้องการไปชมความงดงามของศิลปะ วัฒนธรรม และสัมผัสกับเทคโนโลยีนวัตกรรมต่างๆ สักครั้งหนึ่งในชีวิต ในทางกลับกันชาวญี่ปุ่นเองก็ได้ให้ความสำคัญกับประเทศไทย ทั้งในฐานะประเทศคู่ค้าและประเทศที่น่าท่องเที่ยวมากที่สุดแห่งหนึ่ง ซึ่งนี่ได้นำไปสู่ความสัมพันธ์อันดีระหว่างชาวไทยและชาวญี่ปุ่นที่ได้หยั่งรากลึกจนเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของวัฒนธรรมของทั้ง 2 ประเทศ

จากหลักฐานทางประวัติศาสตร์ ประเทศไทยและประเทศญี่ปุ่น มีความสัมพันธ์และมิตรภาพอันดีต่อกันมาตั้งแต่สมัยสุโขทัย โดยเริ่มจากการค้าขายระหว่างพ่อค้าจากโอกินาวาและพ่อค้าชาวไทย ซึ่งในขณะนั้นยังเป็นราชอาณาจักรริวกิว การค้าขายระหว่างชาวไทยและชาวญี่ปุ่นมีการแลกเปลี่ยนซื้อขายกันอย่างกว้างขวาง จนมีหลักฐานกล่าวไว้ว่า เรือจากประเทศญี่ปุ่นที่เข้ามาทำการค้าขายกับประเทศไทยในยุคนั้นมีจำนวนมากกว่าประเทศอื่น และนับจากนั้นเป็นต้นมาความสัมพันธ์ไทย – ญี่ปุ่นจึงค่อยๆ แน่นแฟ้นขึ้น

จนกระทั่งได้มีการสถาปนาความสัมพันธ์ทางการทูตอย่างเป็นทางการโดย มร. ซูโจ อาโอกิ (Chuzo Aoki) รองเสนาบดีว่าการต่างประเทศญี่ปุ่นในยุคสมัยนั้น ได้ลงนามใน “หนังสือปฏิญญาว่าด้วยทางพระราชไมตรีและการค้าขาย ระหว่างประเทศสยามกับประเทศญี่ปุ่น” ร่วมกับสมเด็จกรมพระยาเทววงษ์วโรปการ เสนาบดีว่าการต่างประเทศสยาม เมื่อวันที่ 26 กันยายน 2430 (ค.ศ.1887)

ประเทศไทยจึงถือเป็นประเทศแรกในทวีปเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ ที่มีการสถาปนาความสัมพันธ์อย่างเป็นทางการร่วมกันกับประเทศญี่ปุ่น ซึ่งนอกจากความสัมพันธ์ในด้านเศรษฐกิจ การค้า การลงทุน และความร่วมมือในด้านต่างๆ แล้ว ประเทศญี่ปุ่นและประเทศไทยยังดำรงความสัมพันธ์อันใกล้ชิดแนบแน่นระหว่างพระราชวงศ์ของทั้ง 2 ประเทศมาอย่างยาวนานสืบมา และในวันที่ 26 กันยายน 2560 นี้ ความสัมพันธ์ทางการทูตระหว่างไทย – ญี่ปุ่นจะครบรอบ 130 ปี

Mitsubishi Motors Thailand promotes the 130th Anniversary
of Thailand - Japan Diplomatic Relations

Bangkok (28 September 2017) – Japan is one of the leading destinations that Thai dream of visiting once in a lifetime to appreciate the beauty of art, culture, and innovative technology. On the other hand, Japanese considers Thailand as both partner and one of the most attractive tourism attractions. This has led to healthy relationship between Japanese and Thai, and it has already been deep-rooted in the culture of both countries.

Based on the historical evidences, Thailand and Japan have become partners since the era of Ryukyu’s Kingdom and Sukothai’s Kingdom with the beginning of trade between Japanese merchants from Okinawa and Thai merchants. Trade between these two nations became so spread that there were trades between Thailand and Japan more than the trades between other countries and Thailand in the same period. Since then, the relations between Thailand and Japan became closer and closer.

Then, the official relations began on 26 September 1887 with the sign of “Declaration of Amity and Commerce” made by Mr. Chuzo Aoki, Deputy Chancellor of Japan’s Foreign Affair, and His Royal Highness Prince Devawongse Varopakarn, Chancellor of Siam’s Foreign Affair.

Thailand became the 1st country in Southeast Asia that officially began the relations with Japan. Such relations is not only reserved in aspect of economy, trade, investment, cooperation, but also between Royal Families of both nations. On 26 September 2017, Thailand - Japan diplomatic relations has reached its 130th anniversary.
