The three winners of Thai Designer Academy have been announced. Thai Designer Academy is a project by Department of Industry Promotion, Ministry of Industry, together with Kantana Group. A full scale fashion show was organized to showcase the works of the 12 final teams, and awards were presented to the three winners of the project. The winners will have a chance to go to Paris, France to learn more about fashion. They will be important players who will add value to the Thai fashion industry in the future, taking Thai design to an international level.

Mrs. Wanpen Ratanakangwal, Director of Industrial Sectors Development Division 1, Ministry of Industry, said, “Thai Designer Academy aims to equip Thai designers with more potential. It is an academy which teaches them to be creative leaders to support and encourage Thai designers to improve their business. The project offers Thai designers experience and knowledge, to create a new generation to designers who will push Thailand’s fashion industry forward. This year, Thai Designer Academy was a success, with 40 brands participating in the project. It also received support from experts, honorable guests, and fashion and style icons such as Somchai Songwattana from FlyNow, Polpat Asavaprapha from ASAVA, Chaichana Savantrat from Goodmixer & Muse, Patcharapimol Youngprapakorn from S'uvimol, Assoc Prof Anothai Cholachatpinyo from  Department of Textile Science, Faculty of Agro-Industry, Kasetsart University, branding expert Dolchai Boonyaratavej, former Gucci director and PR manager Pattriya Na Nakorn, photograher Pansiri Sirivejjapan, and style director and fashion design lecturer Buncha Chuduang.

Today, the project has found its three winners who have been chosen through an intensive process. They will attend a study tour in Paris, France, to study fashion business and find inspiration to drive their dreams into a reality. They will use their experience to generate new products which will take Thailand’s fashion industry to an international level.”



Chukiat Boonrueng of FULAME, a natural indigo-dyed leather brand with unique designs. The brand has also expanded its line from leather to include everyday wear.   



Jariya Nantaek of VANILA GATE-GALA, a clothing brand inspired by dreams, reading, daily life, sadness, loss and longing. Each piece is handmade to give the product a distinctive feature. Every piece is one of a kind.   
 


Arif Jewang of HAMMER AWAY AT, an emerging clothing brand inspired by the history of Thailand, such as the legend of Phra Nang Rue Lom. HAMMER AWAY AT uses deep colors and florals. The items are versatile and can be worn in many occasions.
 

“Thai Designer Academy is very happy to see the participation of all the 40 brands. Each brand has grown through our Design Business Workshops and classes on online marketing, which helped unleash their potential and creativity, while also inspiring the next generation of designers and fashion designers. The ultimate goal is for Thai designers and fashion designers to be able to compete internationally, which in turn will add value to the Thai economy and make Thailand the design hub of Asean,” said Wanpen.
