GOVERNMENT AND PRIVATE AGENCIES JOIN FORCE OPENING THE DIGITAL CONTENT FESTIVAL OF THE YEAR “BIDC 2017” REFOCUSING B2B TO STIMULATE GROWTH FOR THAI DIGITAL EXPORTDigital Economy Promotion Agency (DEPA), in cooperation with Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) and Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), Together with 5 Thai Digital Content Associations including Thai Game Software Industry Association (TGA), Digital Content Association of Thai (DCAT), E-Learning Association of Thailand (e-LAT), Thai Animation & Computer Graphics Association (TACGA) and Bangkok ACM SIGGRAPH (BASA), opens the Digital Content Festival of the Year “BIDC 2017” to refocus B2B strategy, expecting to multiply spending and promote export growth for Thai digital content industry, showcasing works from leading Thai digital companies operating Animation, Game, E-learning, Computer Graphics and Visual Effect, matching partners for Thai and international business and arranging the meeting with the group of world-class digital experts attending the event to share and transfer knowledge.
DEPA Pushes Digital Content as the Main Mechanism for Digital Economy Promotion Strategy
Meetham Na Ranong Acting Vice President of Digital Economy Promotion Agency (DEPA), Ministry of Digital Economy and Society, disclosed “DEPA plays a key role in promoting and supporting digital technology industry in various dimensions. One of the missions is to develop potential of digital content industry serving as the key mechanism applying to nation’s development strategy towards fully-integrated digital economy by developing digital industry and innovation in alignment with Thailand 4.0 policy and digital development for economy and society plan as well as developing personnel, sourcing fund and protecting intelligence property to enhance capabilities of Thai digital content to be accepted and able to generate income economic system of the country.
Lately the “Bangkok International Digital Content Festival 2017” (BIDC) was open with the concept “Digital Wonderland,” the wonder of digital content where new technologies will contribute to developing country’s economy in all industries. Organized for 4 consecutive years, the event is country’s largest digital content festival that showcase potentials of industry and Thai digital entrepreneurs in Animation, Game, E-learning, Computer Graphics and Visual Effect to be introduced and accepted in the international arena. This year the festival redirects the strategy to focus more on Business to Business (B2B) than previous years in order to achieve the target for promoting growth of digital content industry and contributing more to national economic growth. The Government supports industry and entrepreneurs in organizing the festival that embraces international players to participate and benefits from business meeting and negotiation and highlights the capabilities of Thai digital content ready to be the hub of ASEAN on account of skill sets of personnel and substantial Government’s supports. According to the survey in 2015, total market value was about 12 billion Baht with export value of 1.5 billion Baht.
“So far there have been successful business entrepreneurs including Kankuay of Kantana Animation Studio Co., Ltd. and Withita Animation Co., Ltd., the producer and distributor of Kai-Hua-Rah cartoon, Pangpond and Nu Hin character. The Game segment employs game to use for communication tool and support marketing for product and service brands, leveraging capability in virtual experience from game creation to assist other businesses, using VR technology to deliver best experience in fashion industry, allow customers to feel the real atmosphere and visit display home for real estate industry. The e-LAT that encourages lifetime learning such as learning laws via e-Learning. The TACGA shows animation featuring Films, TV Series, Short Animation (Thai cartoon produced for international market) such as Final Fantasy and XV: Kingsglaives. All groups achieve the goal to be introduced and accepted by local and international market while extending business opportunities.” Meetham Na Ranong added.
Export Promotion Department Sets the Table for Business Negotiation to Promote Thai Digital Content to International Market
Vanaporn Ketudat, Deputy Director General Department of International Trade Promotion, Ministry of Commerce, said “Business Matching” is the highlight of the “Bangkok International Digital Content Festival 2017” to drive Thai digital content industry aligning with Government’s policy and strategy and the organizing of BIDC 2017, providing opportunity for newcomer entrepreneurs to partner with over 40 leading international companies from USA, Canada, England, France, New Zealand, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, China and Korea such as CARTOON NETWORK STUDIO from USA, CCTV ANIMATION CO from China, MIXI, INC (XFLAG STUDIO) from Japan and 60 local companies in Thailand attending the activities and event this year. For this event is well supported by The Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) has invited Japanese speakers from TV Tokyo Communications Corporation to attend the seminar.
The Industry Group to Support Thailand for Hub
Tidarat Thanapakpawin, President of Thai Game Software Industry Association (TGA) and representative for the Association Organizers, unveiled “The Bangkok International Digital Content Festival 2017 as a result of the collaboration between Public and Private Agencies to promote Thailand to achieve the ASEAN’s digital content hub and the target to expand to global arena along with the ongoing growth of digital industry. The Association Organizers play a key role in rendering business, commercial and product development supports for members, building local and international business network and intermediary role in connecting public sector and private entrepreneurs to steer growth of Thai digital content industry following the national policy to drive digital industry as part of the economic stimulus package , especially the digital content export market
TCEB Shows Country’s Capacity to Organize Mega Events
Weerasak Kowsurat, Chairman of the Working Committee for Bangkok Entertainment Fest 2017 and Chairman of the Board, Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), disclosed “The Bangkok International Digital Content Festival 2017,” an event of Bangkok Entertainment Fest 2017, features the capability and competency showcase of Thailand’s digital content industry acknowledging foreigners and inviting them to join business with Thai entrepreneurs. TCEB, as the Body leading and organizing national convention and exhibition as well as developing mega event for the country, realizes that the cooperation between public and private sector significantly supports industry’s growth.
