Thai AirAsia Launches “Bangkok-Vientiane” Flight to Further Penetrate CLMV Underlines Success of Thai-Lao Connections with Low Fares Starting at Only 990 THB per way
AirAsia has further enhanced its ASEAN network and penetration of CLMV (Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar and Vietnam) markets by opening new daily flights from "Bangkok-Vientiane". The Bangkok-Vientiane route is the second Thai-Lao connection following the Bangkok-Luang Prabang route which launched its inaugural flight on 24 March 2016. AirAsia is the first airline to connect the Vientiane capital and Luang Prabang throughout CLMV, making it the low fare airline with the most flights in ASEAN with connections from Thailand to 7 ASEAN countries totaling 15 destinations. Book the new flight at a promotional fare starting at only 990 THB per way* from today to 8 May 2016 for travel from 1 July 2016-22 May 2017.
Mr. Santisuk Klongchaiya, Director of Commercial for Thai AirAsia, pointed out that Thai AirAsia received very strong positive feedback from its first connection between Thailand and Lao PDR with the flight to Luang Prabang achieving average Load Factor of 80-85%. The response prompted the airline to immediately add a second connection with "Bangkok-Vientiane", now allowing for travel to the capital of Lao PDR, a city with great commercial, investment and tourism growth potential.
"AirAsia becoming the first low cost airline to connect Thailand and Lao PDR means easier and more convenient travel for all. We have seen our customer base in the segment expand rapidly, both among tourists and entrepreneurs. With Vientiane being the financial center of Lao PDR and a key destination for trade, we are sure many Thai businesses will see the easier, more cost effective travel to the city as a boon. At the same time, we hope to attract many Laotian travelers to Thailand by offering them a direct route to the Kingdom".
Vientiane is already considered an important source of business for Thai SMEs, especially among those that have focused their expansion on neighboring countries in the CLMV region. The Laotian market has already shown a strong interest for Thai products and services as it grows and requires greater convenience. At the same time, Vientiane is also a unique destination for cultural tourism and serves as a jump off point to other popular sites, such as the increasingly well known Vang Vieng. All together, AirAsia is confident its latest addition will strengthen its network and respond to both the business and tourism needs of Thailand and Lao PDR.
