EDM publishes most complete book on Thailand’s sustainable development efforts, including royal initiatives
Indispensable sourcebook to quickly grasp key issues and ideas on Thailand's sustainability challenges and solutions with almost 100 case studies In bookstores end November 2015
Editions Didier Millet, the publisher of some of the most successful books on Thailand and Asia, including the acclaimed biography King Bhumibol Adulyadej: A Life's Work, has just published an important new title called Thailand's Sustainable Development Sourcebook that distils key concepts of sustainable development, defining the issues at stake and providing examples of solutions in one go-to, informative guide.
The book is a compilation of 62 thoroughly researched articles on Thailand's major sustainable development programmes that are written and reviewed by 70 expert and internationally recognized authors. It deals frankly with the backgrounds to some of Thailand's most intractable sustainability issues, and the obstacles to overcoming them, as well as how His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej's Sufficiency Economy guidelines and the royal projects have contributed to sustainable development.
Mr. Nicholas Grossman, Managing Editor of Editions Didier Millet Thailand, who compiled and edited Thailand's Sustainable Development Sourcebook, said, "This highly readable reference book is ideal for CEOs, entrepreneurs, community leaders and public officials or anyone who cares about the future of Thailand and of the planet. It presents a stunning range of infographics, interviews, case studies and illustrations that help the reader quickly grasp key issues and ideas on Thailand's sustainability challenges as well as the inspiring efforts under way across the country. We present almost one hundred case studies showing how sustainable development principles are applied and can be integrated into a business's entire operations."
Prof. Emeritus Kasem Watanachai, Privy Councillor and Chairman of the Thailand Sustainable Development Foundation, said, "This book is an essential tool that comes at a time when the whole world, including Thailand, is looking for a new and successful path forward with sustainability. It is an indispensable resource because it fills a void for an accurate and balanced book on Thailand in this area."
All the contents of Thailand's Sustainable Development Sourcebook were reviewed and had inputs from a distinguished panel of editorial advisors chaired by Prof. Emeritus Kasem Watanachai. The panel also includes Mr. Kitti Wasinondh, advisor to the Crown Property Bureau and former Thai ambassador to London, and Dr. Priyanut Dharmapiya, Director of the Sufficiency School Centre
The publication of Thailand's Sustainable Development Sourcebook coincides and complements the United Nations' recently launched "2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development", and also features a Foreword by the head of UNESCAP, Dr. Shamshad Akhtar.
The 416-page Thailand's Sustainable Development Sourcebook is in leading bookstores, including Asia Books and Kinokuniya, in late November 2015, as well as available worldwide through amazon.com, with a suggested retail price of Bht 1,750 (US$49.95).
It is complemented with a website containing excerpts from the book as well as other sustainable development information at
