ROUND TABLE MEETING ON INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITIES IN SELANGOR, MALAYSIA
BANGKOK, THAILAND - Selangor State Government of Malaysia through Invest Selangor (formerly known as SSIC Berhad) was successfully organized a Round Table Meeting on Investment Opportunities in Selangor, Malaysia held at The Berkeley Hotel Pratunam, today and approximately 30 potential investors attended in this event. The Honorable Dato’ Teng Chang Khim, Selangor State Executive Councilor was giving the keynotes address during the event.
The objectives of the round table meeting are:
i. To promote State of Selangor as preferred investment destination.
ii. To promote Selangor International Expo 2015.
iii. To highlights the roles and function of Invest Selangor Berhad.
iv. To promote Industrial Park in Selangor.
v. Investment Opportunities in Selangor State
Approximately, 30 potential investors attended in this event, which focus 5 core sectors (E&E, Transport & Equipment, Life Science, Food, Machinery & Equipment) as well as promoting Industrial Park, in Selangor, Malaysia.
Meanwhile, Invest Selangor also will be organizing one of the largest trade expo in Selangor, the SELANGOR INTERNATIONAL EXPO (SIE) 2015. This expo will be held from November 26 to 28, 2015, at the Mines International Exhibition and Convention Centre (MIECC), Malaysia.
“SIE 2015 will provide 700 booths from different industries from Malaysian companies to international companies to showcase their latest products and services to attract potential buyers or spark the possibility of business collaborations and widen the scope of international development,” said Dato’ Teng.
Overall, the event was a success and participants were able to get the first hand information on investment opportunities in Selangor. All participants had shown great interest to foster business relationship in future.

In 2014, we were able to attract 229 manufacturing projects with an approved investment value of RM7.04 billion. New projects constituted RM3.74 billion or 53.1%, while RM3.30 billion or 46.9% were expansions of existing investments. We are fortunate, since Selangor usually attracts almost equal amounts of domestic investments valued at RM3.84 billion or 54.5% in 2014 and foreign investments, which stood at RM3.20 billion or 45.5% of the total investment value in the state.
The Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) recently released investment statistics for the first quarter of 2015 (January – March). The state of Selangor recorded 62 manufacturing projects so far with a total investment value of RM1.95 billion. This included RM0.74 billion (37.9%) of new projects and RM1.21 billion (62.1%) expansions in January to March. Furthermore, foreign investments have been surging to RM1.15 billion (59.0%) at this early stage, which is an encouraging signal from international markets. Domestic investments remained strong at RM0.80 billion (41.0%), which is common for project development in the beginning of a new investment year.
