AirAsia wins ‘Best Asian Low Cost Carrier’ by TTG Travel Awards for the eighth time!
AirAsia, the world’s best low cost airline, was once again named the ‘Best Asian Low-Cost Carrier’ by TTG, Asia-Pacific’s leading travel news publisher at the recent 25th Annual TTG Travel Awards 2014 held in Bangkok yesterday.
The airline was chosen as the recipient of the prestigious accolade this year through undisputed votes by readers of TTG’s line of publications in the region, comprising of TTGAsia, TTGChina, TTGIndia, TTGmice, TTG-BTmice China, TTGassociations and TTG Asia Luxury.
This latest ‘Best Asian Low-Cost Carrier’ award adds to the winning tally of eight awards for AirAsia in the same category, which was first won by the airline in 2005.
Captain Tanapat Ngamplang, Executive Vice President of Thai AirAsia, attended the event on behalf of the AirAsia Group to accept the iconic statuette of Hermes, the coveted signature trophy of the TTG Travel Awards.

AirAsia was presented with the Best Asian Low-Cost Carrier award for providing the best service, network and schedules, along with having the most professional sales and marketing team in terms of innovative ideas, incentive programmes and servicing.
Voters also acknowledged the airline for being most agent-friendly in terms of reservations, confirmations and commission payments.

Furthermore, their achievement of staying at the top of its class for the 7th year in a row, makes this airline a true role model for any organization in the travel industry.”
An eight-time winner of the award, AirAsia was first awarded the Best Asian Low-Cost Carrier title from TTG in 2005, followed by straight wins from 2008 to 2014. In 2009, Tony Fernandes was named ‘Travel Personality of the Year’ by the editorial board of TTG.
The Best Asian Low-Cost Carrier award from TTG adds to other accolades garnered by the airline this year. AirAsia was named the 'World’s Best Low Cost Airline’ by Skytrax at the 2014 World Airline Awards, bringing the tally to six consecutive wins of the coveted award by the airline since 2009. It also won Skytrax’s Asia's Best Low Cost Airline' award for the sixth consecutive year.
Just recently, the airline continued its winning streak by clinching the ‘Best Low-Cost Airline’ Award by Business Traveller Asia-Pacific for the third consecutive year, at the annual Travel Awards ceremony held in Hong Kong. The ‘Best Low-Cost Airline’ category was created in 2012 and AirAsia was the first low-cost airline to be awarded this title, reinforcing the airline’s growing force as the region’s best low-cost airline.
AirAsia is a household name which has flown over 250 million guests since it was established nearly twelve years ago with a mission to democratize air travel in the region and has been operationally profitable from day one of its launch as a low-cost carrier. The airline now has operations based in Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, India and the Philippines, servicing the most extensive network with 88 destinations.
*The first annual TTG Travel Awards began in 1989 and has been organised by TTG Asia every year since. Since the awards first began, this celebrated event has grown significantly in terms of participation from the industry as well as the number of awards given out each year.
From 10 awards in 1989, the Awards now honours 83 winners across four categories – two voting(Travel Supplier and Travel Agency Awards), one non-voting (Outstanding Achievement Awards) and one honorary (Travel Hall of Fame). The TTG Travel Awards is now reputed as the most coveted and influential awards to be won in the region’s travel industry.
TTG’s award winners were determined through voting by readers of TTG Travel Trade Publishing’s print and online titles. For 2014, a total of 150,000 valid votes were received from early May to early July.
