Embark on an awe-inspiring adventure
in “Creatures of the Lost Ocean”
Many of us may be able to recall the excitement and anticipation in watching adventure films or documentaries on the subject of the world of ancient animals. This school break, Siam Ocean World plans to fulfill young children’s creativity by transforming the aquarium into the Creatures of the Lost Ocean –a world in which none has ever experienced. Visitors will be brought back in time to discover the amazing kingdom of the underwater world with the campaign “Creatures of the Lost Ocean”.
The adventures of “Creatures of the Lost Ocean” campaign starts with a colorful parade of sea turtle performers from the interactive show entitled “The Big World of The Sea Turtles”; together with Siam Ocean World’s star mascots and Mermaids. They will be welcoming visitors on the main stage at the entrance, which is designed to give a picture of a cave front from the stone-age period. Apart from becoming memorized by the prehistoric decorative designs, visitors will learn more about sea turtles evolution and other aquatic animals, as well as their survival secrets since prehistoric times, all of which are to be discovered at Siam Ocean World
After becoming impressed with Siam Ocean World’s exciting environment, visitors will shortly make their way into the Rocky Shore zone, that has been converted into a 360 degree “The Lost World Theatre” and is skillfully decorated under the concept “The lost ocean discovery”. While Mr. Suriyon Arunwattanakul – Deaw, as host, greets and welcomes distinguished guests, media and invitees, Mr. Wiboon Raksaeree, Curator , of Siam Ocean World Co., Ltd. will welcome all and talk about the background, objectives and details of the “Creatures of the Lost Ocean” campaign.
“Siam Ocean World’s Sea Turtles Conservation project has been organised for 3 consecutive years. We intend to continue our commitments in conserving aquatic animals. This year the sea turtles project is organised under the concept of “Creatures of the Lost Ocean” with the support of Sriracha Municipality. Derived from the belief that turtles and many other aquatic species are creatures that existed since prehistoric times, survived until today mainly because of their distinctive anatomy and special characteristics that evolved through time. Among many of their cryptic series of changes are – their rough and scaly, alligator likeskin now evolved into a hard smooth shell that assist them in swimming; and their ‘feet’ have presently turned into ‘flippers’ to enable them to swim and assist them in migration. Even though sea turtles have survived million of years up until today, up-to-date their existence is being threatened and endangered. It is apparent that the numbers of sea turtles are slowly diminishing. If we do not act to conserve them, one day they will surely be extinct”.
“Siam Ocean World is determined to create awareness and understanding on the importance of natural resources and environment conservation among youth. Subsequently, many activities were launched with the aim of providing new information about the aquatic world, such as Live Interactive Show – a creative and colorful show that provides of knowledge about sea turtles and aquatic animals and its origin since the Dinosaurs era, together with excavation sites for digging up prehistoric fossils”.
The host will then invite Mr. Chatchai Thimkrajang Major of Sriracha municipality to provide details regarding their support of the campaign.
“Since the situation of sea turtles is at its critical stage, as they are being threaten and becoming endangered by human activities - taking advantage from their meat, eggs, skin, shell and fat; invading their egg laying sites for the benefit of tourism or were destroyed by natural disasters. Resulting in a drastic decrease in the number of sea turtles, endangering them and causing them to become extinct in the future. Sriracha municipality is an organisationthat is aware of the importance of sea turtles and would like totake part in conserving them. Therefore, we have become a leader in providing main support in sea turtles conservation project; develop gardens on Khoh Loy for the purpose of tourism. To provide areas where the public and youth are able to learn more about sea turtles and create awareness on the importance of sea turtles. In addition, our organisation also joined hands with experts in collecting young turtles, caught in trawlers, from the fishermen and nurture them before releasing them to their natural habitat”.
“Therefore, Sriracha municipality is delighted to learn that Siam Ocean World is another organisation that recognises the importance of sea turtles and wishes to join efforts in conserving sea turtle species. It is our pleasure, together with Chon Buri Integrated coastal management project – Sri Racha district, Chon Buri province, to provide 5 young sea turtles to Siam Ocean World for exhibit and to nurture, so as it would play a part in creating awareness on the importance of sea turtles among youth”.
Next, meet with Richard Gearni or better known as ‘Perd’ in a Thai hit series ‘Poo Yai Lee Kab Nang Ma’ and the famous Suphan Buri accent. He will be sharing his exciting experience, as Sea Turtles Conservation campaign ambassador, and steps taken in transferring sea turtles to Siam Ocean World via VDO Presentation.
He further added “I have the opportunity to take part in receiving the turtles from the Sea Turtles Conservation Center at Khoh Loy, Sriracha province. First, the official needs to conduct blood test on the turtles to identify that they are well and healthy. I saw their eyes; its like tears are dripping out. I feel so sorry for them; they are probably hurt like me when I had to get my shots (as he laughs). Then I feed them; at first I thought turtles only eat morning glory. But I was informed that sea turtles eat fish & shrimp while fresh water turtles are plant eater. After which I wrap the turtles with damp towels so that they stay moist all through out the journey to Siam Ocean World. I want to be a part of conserving sea turtles, so I volunteer to take part in the campaign on behalf of youth, to create awareness and invite all to be a part of the conservation”.
Now it is time for the premier of Live Interactive show - “Creatures of the Lost Ocean” directed by professional drama director. The show tells a story on sea turtle adventure millions of years ago and how they fought against various obstacles and natural disasters, such as earthquakes and volcano explosions, putting them in danger while audiences get involved in helping them to safety.
At the end of the show, it is time for a photo opportunity. Host invites, Siam Ocean World representatives, Sriracha major and Richard up on the stage. Followed by fun activities especially designed to provide guests and children with enjoyment, such as excavation sites for those who wish to become archeologists, color paintings, face painting and Japanese traditional paper crafts Origami and many others exciting activities.
