Thai AirAsia X Launches Direct Flights From Bangkok Don Mueang To Korea and Japan
Offers X-Citing Fares From Bangkok (DMK)-Seoul (ICN) from 1,990THB per way*
Thai AirAsia X (TAAX), Thailand’s first low-cost, long-haul carrier officially launches with the announcement of daily direct flights from Bangkok Don Mueang Airport (DMK) to Seoul Incheon International Airport (ICN) starting from 17 June 2014. To celebrate the launch, X-citing promotional fares from Bangkok to Seoul are available starting from 1,990THB* per way (inclusive of tax and fees). Tickets must be booked on
www.airasia.com from 23 April to 3 May 2014 for travel during 17 June 2014-30 April 2015. Upcoming destinations for the airline include direct flights from Bangkok to Tokyo Narita (NRT) and Osaka Kansai (KIX).
Nadda Buranasiri, the new CEO of Thai AirAsia X stated, “We are absolutely thrilled to be Thailand’s first low-cost, long-haul carrier. While Thai AirAsia’s (TAA) Airbus A320 planes continue to offer the best connectivity for short-haul destinations within the country and region, Thai AirAsia X will be operating Airbus A330-300 wide-body aircraft to destinations that are further than a 4 hour flight time from Bangkok Don Mueang Airport. Our new potential to reach further destinations while still offering the same low fares will strengthen AirAsia’s extensive route network and create more affordable long-haul travel opportunities from Bangkok”.
“On June 17th, we will be launching our first commercial flight from Bangkok to Seoul Incheon (ICN) and we are very confident that there is enormous demand for this route. Last year, visitors from South Korea ranked in the top 5 nationalities of visitors to Thailand at 1.3 million people. This year, we look forward to a positive growth for South Korean visitors and we are very proud to contribute to the increased number of available seats for visitor arrivals to Thailand”, added the CEO.
“Due to the visa exemption agreement for Thai passport holders, Seoul is an accessible and affordable destination for many Thai people. Last year, approximately 400,000 Thai people traveled to Seoul. There is a great fascination with Korean pop culture, food, soap opera and shopping amenities and we expect the demand for travel to Seoul to remain at a substantial rate”, said Nadda.
Thai AirAsia X’s daily flights to Seoul will be operated by the Airbus A330-300 aircraft, with a total of 377 seats –365 of which are economy class seats, and 12 of which are Premium Flatbed. The airline will operate with the same low-cost model as AirAsia and guests will be able “pick and choose” from a wide variety of ancillary products including hot meals, comfort kits, baggage supersize options, hot seats with extra leg room, Premium Flatbed seats, and a Quiet Zone Cabin where there is minimal noise and less disturbance.
Upcoming destinations for Thai AirAsia X in 2014 include direct flights between Bangkok Don Mueang to Tokyo (NRT) and Osaka Kansai (KIX). More details will be announced in the near future.
