Mr. Thaksa Busayapoka, CEO of Modernform Group Public Company Limited said “Modernform always strives to create innovative products by joining hands with designers and business partners to explore new market opportunities. Today, Modernform has joined hands with Itoki, the leading furniture company in Japan. We foresee the continued business growth from Japanese companies in Thailand such as automobile and electronic industries, and also there are recently many new investors from Japan have been coming to Thailand.
Together in business collaboration, we will participate in 2-way directions - buy and sell. For Modernform, we would like to expand our market targeting toward Japanese companies that come to invest in Thailand. We will expand our portfolio both in office desking system and chairs, by incorporating the Japanese design, which looks simple but very functional. We will import and sell through both retail and contract channels. The Japanese companies are looking for their new office decoration for which the design lay out normally follows the functionality similar to Japanese workplace environment.
On the other hand, we have plan to work together to manufacture some particulars products to serve to the Japanese market outside Thailand as well, for example to AEC countries.
Mr. Masamichi Yamada, Chairman of Itoki Japan said “We would like to add Itoki design to partner not only to expand toward new Japanese market in Thailand, but possible to expand toward Thai local companies as well as international corporations through Modernform distribution channels as well.
While we want to grow into this market, but the production capacity is limited, so this business collaboration could answer to the growth and since Modernform is known for premium and quality office furniture, so Modernform is then a perfect partner for the opportunity. ”
Thaksa said “The market of Japanese furniture in Thailand does not grow as fast or dramatically but there is still market gap for us to jump in and play. I would say about 7-10% of overall office furniture sale should be a possible number, so we could say Modernform could likely increase the sales by about 100-150 million baht.”
