ศิลปินดาราระดับโลกตอบรับร่วมงานเทศกาลภาพยนตร์นานาชาติกรุงเทพฯ ปี 2552
ในปีที่ผ่านมา งานเทศกาลภาพยนตร์นานาชาติกรุงเทพฯ ปี 2552 ได้สร้างชื่อเสียงในการคัดสรรภาพยนตร์ที่หลากหลายจากทั่วทุกมุมโลกเข้าร่วมในเทศกาล และยังได้ดึงดูดผู้ที่มีชื่อเสียงในวงการภาพยนตร์ เช่น Jean Claude van Damme มาร่วมงานอีกด้วย
ปีนี้งานเทศกาลภาพยนตร์นานาชาติได้นำดาราชั้นนำมาร่วมงาน Red Carpet มากมาย อาทิ
James Belushi อยู่ในวงการโทรทัศน์และภาพยนตร์ตั้งแต่ปี 2520 ครั้งนี้จะเป็นครั้งแรกที่เขาได้มาเมืองไทยเพื่อที่จะร่วมเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของงานเทศกาลภาพยนตร์นานาชาติกรุงเทพฯ ปี 2552 เขาเป็นที่รู้จักจากบทบาทในเรื่อง Salvador (กำกับโดย Oliver Stone) และ Red Heat (แสดงร่วมกับ Arnold Schwarzenegger) และรายการTV show ชื่อ According to Jim ซึ่งคาดว่าเขาจะได้รับการตอบรับที่ดีจากแฟนชาวไทยอย่างแน่นอน
Ving Rhames ผู้ที่เคยได้รับรางวัล Golden Globeจากเรื่อง Pulp Fiction, Mission Impossible 1, 2, 3 จะมาปรากฎกายในเทศกาลในปีนี้อีกด้วย เขาเป็นนักแสดงฮอลลีวูดที่ยุ่งที่สุดคนนึง จากภาพยนตร์เรื่อง The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard (แสดงร่วมกับ Jeremy Piven) และภาพยนตร์ทุนสร้างมหาศาลเรื่อง Surrogates (แสดงร่วมกับ Bruce Willis)
Jean Claude Van Damme เป็นผู้หนึ่งที่มาประเทศไทยและร่วมงานเทศกาลฯเป็นประจำ ในปีนี้เขายังคงสละเวลาเพื่อมาร่วมงานกับเราอีกครั้งหนึ่ง ในครั้งนี้เขาได้พานักแสดงร่วมในภาพยนตร์ของเขา เรื่อง Eagle Path ที่กำลังอยู่ในช่วง post production นั้นคือ Adam Karst และ Josef Cannon ซึ่งนี่จะเป็นครั้งแรกของเข้าทั้งสองคนที่มาร่วมงานเทศกาลนี้
นอกจากนี้ยังมี Scout Taylor Compton นักแสดง และนักร้องที่เป็นที่จับตามองในตอนนี้ เธอเป็นที่จดจำในการแสดงเป็น Laurie Strobe ในภาพยนตรเรื่อง Halloween’s 1, 2 ไม่เพียงแค่นั้นเธอยังมีภาพยนตร์ที่กำลังอยู่ในช่วง Post Production อีก 4 เรื่อง และอีกหนึ่งเรื่องที่กำลังถ่ายทำในประเทศไทย
William Forsythe ที่โด่งดังการบทบาทของผู้ร้ายและอาชญากร ภาพยนตร์เรื่อง Once Upon a Time in America และ The Rock (กำกับโดย Michael Bay) ได้ทำให้เขาประสบคามสำเร็จอย่างสูงในอาชีพนักแสดง ด้วยสายตาที่เฉียบแหลม รูปร่างที่สูงใหญ่ และน้ำเสียงที่แหบห้าวจะทำให้เขาเป็นที่ได้รับความสนใจเป็นอย่างมาก
และนักแสดงที่กำลังเป็นที่สนใจอย่างมากอย่าง Olivia Thirlby เธอเป็นที่รู้จักหลังจากได้แสดงในเรื่อง United 93 ไม่เพียงแค่นั้นเธอยังโด่งดังจาก Juno และ New York, I Love You เป็นที่โชคดีเป็นอย่างมากเพราะเธอได้พยายามปลีกเวลาเพื่อมาร่วมงานเทศกาลภาพยนตร์นานาชาติกรุงเทพฯ ในปีนี้
Kyle Gallner นักแสดงหน้าใหม่อีกหนึ่งคนที่ทุกคนจะจำเขาได้จากการแสดงใน A Haunting In Connecticut เขายังได้แสดงบทนำในเรื่อง Nightmare On Elm Street ซึ่งไม่ควรพลาดชมอย่างยิ่ง
Gary Daniels นักแสดงในเรื่อง Tekken ที่จะเข้าฉายในเดือนพฤศจิกายน ปี 2552 และเขายังคาดว่าจะได้ร่วมใน Project ของ Sylvester Stallone เรื่อง The Expendables (เมษายน ปี 2553) นอกจากนี้เขาเพิ่งเสร็จ
จากโปรเจคหนังในประเทศไทย The Lazarus Papers ซึ่งแสดงโดย Danny Trejo, Bai Ling, Tommy ‘Tiny” Lister และ Crystal V
นอกจากนี้ยังมีทีมงานและนักแสดงของภาพยนตร์ฟอร์มยักษ์ GI JOE ที่จะเข้ามาร่วมเป็นส่วนหนึ่งในเทศกาลฯ ซึ่งรายชื่อพวกเขาเหล่านี้ทางเราจะรีบแจ้งให้เร็วที่สุด
มายังฝั่งเอเชีย นำขบวนโดย Richard Ng และ Carl Ng ลูกชายของเขาซึ่งจะมาเป็นตัวแทนจากฮ่องกง และยังจะมีนักแสดงอื่นๆตามมาอีกมากมาย Kamal Hassan ผู้ที่มีชื่อเสียงในอินเดีย เขายังเป็นนักแสดงในยุค 70 อีกด้วย ในอินเดียเขาโด่งดังมากจนตั้งชื่อถนนตามชื่อของเขาเลยทีเดียว
Sung Kang นักแสดงจาก The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift ก็เป็นอีกคนนึงที่จะมาร่วมงานเทศกาลฯ เขาได้แสดงบทนำในเรื่อง Live Free or Die Hard (แสดงร่วมกับ Bruce Willis and Maggie Q) ในปีนี้เขายังได้แสดง Fast & Furious ภาคล่าสุด (แสดงร่วมกับ Vin Diesel) และที่สำคัญที่สุดในงานเทศกาลฯในครั้งนี้เขาจะมาแสดงบทบาทเล็กๆน้อยๆให้เราได้ชมอีกด้วย
อาจารย์ผู้เชี่ยวชาญในศาสตร์โยคะชื่อดัง Master Kamal ที่เพิ่งจะสร้างหนังเรื่องแรกของเขาเสร็จ เรื่อง Oh My God! Kamal ซึ่งผสมผสานเทคนิคของโยคะและศิลปะการต่อสู้เข้าด้วยกันอย่างลงตัว

James “Jim” Belushi
Bio: James Belushi, who has been working in film and television since 1977 will be making his first visit to Thailand to take part in the Bangkok International Film Festival 2009. He is best known for his roles in Salvador (directed by Oliver Stone) and Red Heat (co-starring Arnold Schwarzenegger) and his long running TV show; According to Jim. Jim is a talented all around performer not just an actor, or comedian, but an established musician; he heads Jim Belushi & The Sacred Hearts, as well as an author with his book “Real Men Don’t Apologize”. A passionate sports fan and known for not being afraid of a good time, Jim Belushi is sure to be a hit amongst Thai fans.
Ving Rhames
Bio: Pulp Fiction, Mission Impossible 1, 2 and 3, our Golden Globe winning movie star Ving Rhames will be joining us during the festival. Delighted to have his attendance after his recent comedy film The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard (co-starring Jeremy Piven) and action film Surrogates (co-starring Bruce Willis) has just been released. Rhames won a Golden Globe in 1998 for best actor in a TV miniseries for his performance in HBO's Don King: Only in America. At the ceremony Rhames gave his award to fellow nominee Jack Lemmon, saying "I feel that being an artist is about giving, and I'd like to give this to you." Lemmon was clearly touched by the gesture as was the celebrity audience who gave Lemmon a standing ovation. That moment was #98 on E!'s 101 Awesome Moments in Entertainment.
Scout Taylor Compton
Bio: Stunning Scout Taylor Compton, singer and actress is known for her horror genre having starred in Halloween 1 and 2. We’re honored to have her attend especially as she’s highly in the spotlight at the moment! Scout is currently recording her debut rock album, as well as recording with pop singer Vitamin C. This young lady is rising quickly through the ranks of Hollywood.
William Forsythe
Bio: Well known ‘tough guy’, William Forsythe is famous for his criminal and law enforcement roles such as The Rock (directed by Michael Bay) and drama movie Once Upon a Time in America. Look out for William’s piercing eyes, tall stature and gravelly deep voice, we’re shouting with joy that he’s attending! Don’t fret too much though his great sense of humor comic timing was great in as Detective Chuck Fowler in Deuce Bigalow Male Gigolo.
Olivia Thirlby
Bio: In the category of “so HOT right now” actress Olivia Thirlby has created a lot of buzz since her debut in United 93, her role in Juno and the eagerly anticipated New York, I Love You. She will be joining Biff’09 and lucky we are to have her able to make time in her busy schedule. Juno won the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay, as well was nominated for Best Picture, and Best Actress for Ellen Page.
Kyle Gallner
Bio: Up and coming young actor Kyle Gallner, you may remember him for his role as the cancer ridden son who hears things in the extremely disturbing film: A Haunting In Connecticut. He also has a major role in the reboot of a Nightmare On Elm Street and is definitely one to watch. Kyle also has had quite a successful career on television series Veronica Mars and Big Love.
Gary Daniels
Bio: Gary Daniels, star of Tekken, due for release in November 2009, and the highly anticipated Sylvester Stallone project, The Expendables (April 2010). No stranger to Bangkok, Gary has also recently completed a major motion picture in Thailand, The Lazarus Papers starring Danny Trejo, Bai Ling, Tommy ‘Tiny” Lister and Thailand’s Crystal V. Gary a former professional Kickboxer held at one time the California Light-heavyweight Kickboxing Championship.
Richard Ng
Bio: Richard Ng has appeared in 80 films to date. He has twice been nominated for the Best Actor Award at the Hong Kong Film Awards, for his roles in Winners and Sinners and Beyond the Sunset. He has worked alongside some of the biggest names in Hong Kong action cinema including Jackie Chan, Michelle Yeoh, Andy Lau and Jet Li. He is known for playing comedic roles, particularly in Hong Kong films of the 1980s and 90s.
Carl Ng
Bio: Carl is a top rated actor out of Hong Kong. Son of actor Richard N, Carl never intended to be an actor but instead studied global corporate strategy at Westminster University, Carl also once lived in Thailand and worked as a Scuba instructor.
Sung Kang
Bio: The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift acting star Sung Kang joins us for the festival. He went on to star in Live Free or Die Hard (co-starring Bruce Willis and Maggie Q). In 2009 we were reunited with Sung starring in the latest release of Fast & Furious (co-starring Vin Diesel). We’re excited for action and drama this event!
Jean-Claude Van Damme
Bio: Action legend Jean-Claude Van Damme, pretty much a regular visitor to Thailand and festival guest will take time out of his busy schedule to take part in the event. He is currently in post production with his latest film Eagle Path, which has quite a buzz about it.
Kazuaki Kiriya
Bio: Kazuaki Kiriya is everything all rolled up into one package. He is a photographer, director, writer, actor, and producer. Based out of Japan he has film movies and loads of music videos, as well as working with various music icons such as Jay Z, Foxy Brown, Method Man, and Hikaru Utada.
David Murray
Bio: Irish actor David Murray from this summer’s hit movie “G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra” has been on screen for many years. A talented man, with a strong background in theatre and modern dance, he has toured all over Europe. He has also won 3 American Mark Time Awards with his audio group Crazy Dog Audio Theatre. David is a former circus performer, with the static trapeze and rope.
Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje
Bio: Adewale hails from London, England, and has two hit television series under his belt, those being “Lost” and “OZ”. He is in the new summer spectacular “G.I. Joe: the Rise of Cobra”. Adewale has also starred in many great movies since his acting debut in 1994. Not to forget that this talented actor has his Masters in Law as well.
Aaron Yoo
Bio: Aaron Yoo is a talented young actor from East Brunswick New Jersey. He starred in the 2007 films “Disturbia” and “American Pastime”, the 2008 films “21” , “Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist”, “The Wackness”, and “Labor Pains”, and had a role in the 2009 reboot of “Friday the 13th”.
William J. MacDonald
Bio: MacDonald is responsible for producing such films as “Silver”, “Jade”, “An Occasional Hell”, “Rough Riders”, “Molly” and “One Man's Hero”. He has also written for the TNT series, “Witchblade” which ran from 2001-2002.MacDonald is also the co-creator of the HBO original series “Rome” (in association of the BBC) along with Bruno Heller and John Milius. MacDonald serves as a writer and executive producer on the series.

ในงานแถลงข่าวการจัดงานเทศกาลภาพยนตร์นานาชาติกรุงเทพฯ ปี 2552 ครั้งที่ 2 (14 กย.) ณ โรงภาพยนตร์เอสเอฟ เวิลด์ ซีเนม่า ศูนย์การค้าเซ็นทรัลเวิลด์ นางวิลาวัณย์ ตันวัฒนะพงษ์ ผู้ช่วยรัฐมนตรีประจำกระทรวงการท่องเที่ยวและกีฬา เปิดเผยว่า
“เทศกาลภาพยนตร์นานาชาติกรุงเทพฯ เป็นวาระที่ ภาพยนตร์หรืออุตสาหกรรมบันเทิงจะสร้างให้เกิดการ “เปลี่ยนแปลง” ในทางที่ดี พร้อมที่จะเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของแนวทางแก้ไขวิกฤตเศรษฐกิจ ในขณะนี้ ซึ่งถือเป็นการผลักดัน Creative Industry เศรษฐกิจเชิงสร้างสรรค์ ในรูปแบบ Culture Industry ที่มีทุนทางวัฒนธรรมและสังคมเป็นที่ตั้ง กระทรวงการท่องเที่ยวฯ มั่นใจว่าเทศกาลภาพยนตร์นานาชาติกรุงเทพฯ ปีนี้ จะดึงดูดให้กลุ่มคนในอุตสาหกรรมภาพยนตร์ทั้งชาวไทย และชาวต่างชาติเข้าร่วมงานเพื่อเจรจาธุรกิจสำหรับกลุ่มผู้สร้างและผู้จัดจำหน่ายภาพยนตร์ โดยมีส่วนผลักดันการพัฒนาเศรษฐกิจของประเทศ เพื่อเป็นช่องทางเพิ่มเงินหมุนเวียนในอุตสาหกรรมท่องเที่ยว และการส่งเสริมภาพลักษณ์อันดีงามของประเทศไทย โดยผู้สื่อข่าวนานาชาติที่มาร่วมเทศกาลฯ”
ทางด้านนายจาฤก กัลย์จาฤก นายกสมาพันธ์สมาคมภาพยนตร์แห่งชาติ ประธานการจัดงานเทศกาลภาพยนตร์นานาชาติกรุงเทพฯ ปี 2552 ได้กล่าวถึงภาพยนตร์เปิดและปิดเทศกาลครั้งนี้ว่า
“เทศกาลภาพยนตร์นานาชาติกรุงเทพฯ ครั้งนี้ เราได้รับเกียรติจากผู้สร้างภาพยนตร์ เรื่อง Bad Lieutenant-Port of Call New Orleans หนังล่าสุดของ นิโคลัส เคจ ฝีมือผู้กำกับคลื่นลูกใหม่ แวร์เนอร์ แฮร์ซ็อก (Worner Herxog) มาเป็นภาพยนตร์เปิดเทศกาล และ“สวัสดีบางกอก” ภาพยนตร์ที่นำเสนอกรุงเทพฯ ในมุมมองของ 9 ผู้กำกับ บัณฑิต-ปรัชญา-ฤทัยวรรณ-เป็นเอก-วิศิษฎ์-อาทิตย์-คงเดช-สันติ-ชูเกียรติ เป็นหนังปิดเทศกาลฯ รวมทั้งภาพยนตร์ที่นำมาฉายโชว์ และภาพยนตร์ประกวดในเทศกาลฯ สาขาต่างๆ กว่า 100 เรื่อง และเพื่อให้ภาพยนตร์ที่จัดฉายมีความหลากหลายมากขึ้น เราจึงได้ร่วมกับเทศกาลภาพยนตร์แอนนิเมชั่นกรุงเทพฯ ซึ่งจัดขึ้นเป็นครั้งแรกในประเทศไทย นำเอาภาพยนตร์แอนนิเมชั่นที่มีชื่อเสียง ที่ได้คัดสรรจากเทศกาลทั่วโลกมาจัดฉายรวมอยู่ในโปรแกรมเดียวกันอีกด้วย”
อีกทั้งยังได้รับการตอบรับจากดาราฮอลลีวู้ด ดาราเอเชีย พร้อมทั้งผู้สร้างและผู้กำกับภาพยนตร์จากนานาประเทศกว่า 120 ชีวิตเดินทางเข้าร่วมงานในครั้งนี้ รวมไปถึงการจัดสัมมนาที่จะเป็นประโยชน์ต่อวงการอุตสาหกรรมภาพยนตร์อย่างแท้จริง พิเศษไปกว่านั้นเราได้เตรียมการต้อนรับแบบไทยๆ พร้อมทั้งโปรแกรมการท่องเที่ยวให้กับแขกผู้มาเยือนอย่างประทับใจ”
อีกไฮไลท์หนึ่งของเทศกาลภาพยนตร์นานาชาติกรุงเทพฯ ปีนี้ ยังประกอบด้วยการสัมมนาที่น่าสนใจในหลากหลายหัวข้อ อาทิ “วงการหนังยุคเศรษฐกิจถอยหลัง” “ปกป้องลิขสิทธิ์ หนังใน ยุคดิจิตอล” , “ไทยลี่วูด – พัฒนาการธุรกิจภาพยนตร์ระดับนานาชาติในประเทศไทย” โดยผู้ทรงคุณวุฒิของวงการภาพยนตร์ฮอลลีวู้ดที่มีชื่อเสียงระดับโลก อาทิ Mr. Gregg Hale – ผู้อำนวยการ สร้างภาพยนตร์เรื่อง “The Blair Witch Project” , Mr.Elie Samaha หนึ่งใน ผู้อำนวยการสร้าง ภาพยนตร์ฟอร์มยักษ์ที่ร่วมงานกับนักแสดงชั้นนำ นอกจากนี้ยังมีสัมมนาที่น่าสนใจสำหรับนักแสดงไทยโดยเฉพาะในหัวข้อ “การสร้างโอกาสให้นักแสดงไทยก้าวสู่เวที Hollywood” โดยเอเจนซี่ที่ดูแลนักแสดงจาก Hollywood โดยตรง เพื่อเป็นการเปิดโอกาสให้นักแสดงไทยก้าวสู่เวทีนานาชาติ จึงเชื่อได้ว่าเทศกาลในปีนี้จะยิ่งใหญ่ กว่าเดิมอย่างแน่นอน

FedEx Thailand Named Official Carrier and Sponsor of 2009 Bangkok International Film Festival
