“โครงการแว่นตาผู้สูงวัยในสมเด็จพระเทพรัตนฯ” เดินหน้าสู่จังหวัดเพชรบูรณ์ เพื่อสานต่อความช่วยเหลือผู้สูงวัยที่มีปัญหาด้านสายตาอย่างต่อเนื่องเป็นปีที่ 3



   จำนวนผู้สูงวัยที่ได้รับบริการไปแล้ว ตั้งแต่ริเริ่มดำเนินโครงการในเดือนมกราคม พ.ศ. 2552 ทั้งสิ้นกว่า 17,000 คน
   ในปี พ.ศ. 2554 นี้ทางโครงการฯ ตั้งเป้าที่จะให้ความช่วยเหลือผู้สูงวัยทั่วประเทศเป็นจำนวนกว่า 7,000 คน

ห้างแว่นท็อปเจริญ ร่วมกับมูลนิธิสงเคราะห์เด็กของสภากาชาดไทย ลงพื้นที่ตรวจวัดสายตาประกอบแว่นฟรี ให้กับผู้สูงวัยที่ประสบปัญหาทางสายตากว่า 400 คนในจังหวัดเพชรบูรณ์ เพื่อสานต่อโครงการ “แว่นตาผู้สูงวัยในสมเด็จพระเทพรัตนฯ” ตามพระราชประสงค์ของสมเด็จพระเทพรัตนราชสุดาฯ สยามบรมราชกุมารี ในการช่วยเหลือผู้สูงวัยที่มีปัญหาสายตาในถิ่นทุรกันดาร ให้มีคุณภาพชีวิตที่ดีขึ้น สามารถประกอบอาชีพ เลี้ยงดูตนเองและบุตรหลานได้ดีขึ้น โดยได้รับเกียรติจากนายจิรายุทธ       วัจนรัตน์ รองผู้ว่าราชการจังหวัดเพชรบูรณ์ นายติรวัฒน์ สุจริตกุล ที่ปรึกษากองงานในพระองค์สมเด็จพระเทพรัตนราชสุดาฯ สยามบรมราชกุมารี ร่วมเป็นประธานเปิดกิจกรรม ร่วมด้วยดาราหนุ่มสุดฮอต เป้ อารักษ์ อมรศุภศิริ มาช่วยสร้างความบันเทิงให้แก่ผู้สูงวัยในพื้นที่ และชมการสาธิตการทำหัตถกรรมจากภูมิปัญญาผู้สูงอายุที่น่ายกย่อง

นายนพศักดิ์ ตรีพรชัยศักดิ์ กรรมการผู้จัดการ ห้างแว่นท็อปเจริญ เปิดเผยว่า โครงการ “แว่นตาผู้สูงวัยในสมเด็จพระเทพรัตนฯ” เกิดขึ้นจากความร่วมมืออันดีระหว่างห้างแว่นท็อปเจริญและมูลนิธิสงเคราะห์เด็กของสภากาชาดไทย เพื่อสนองพระราชประสงค์ของสมเด็จพระเทพรัตนราชสุดาฯ สยามบรมราชกุมารี ในการช่วยเหลือผู้สูงวัยอายุ 45 ขึ้นไป ที่ประสบปัญหาทางสายตาในถิ่นทุรกันดาร เพื่อสร้างคุณค่าให้กับผู้สูงวัย          ทั่วประเทศให้ผ่านพ้นอุปสรรคที่เกิดขึ้นจากสายตา สามารถประกอบอาชีพ เลี้ยงดูตนเองได้ดีขึ้น ด้วยการดำเนินงานตรวจวัดสายตาประกอบแว่นใหม่ให้ฟรีโดยทีมงานผู้เชี่ยวชาญ พร้อมเครื่องมือที่ทันสมัยจากห้างแว่น  ท็อปเจริญ รวมทั้งรักษาอาการทางสายตาและดูแลสุขภาพตาให้แก่ผู้สูงวัยในถิ่นทุรกันดาร ซึ่งถือเป็นพระมหากรุณาธิคุณเป็นล้นพ้นสำหรับผู้สูงวัยในจังหวัดเพชรบูรณ์จำนวน 400 คนที่จะได้เข้ารับการตรวจวัดสายตาประกอบแว่นฟรีในครั้งนี้และผู้สูงวัยในทั่วทุกภาคของประเทศ

ในเดือนพฤษภาคม 2554 นี้ ทางโครงการฯ ทำการลงพื้นที่ช่วยเหลือผู้สูงวัยในจังหวัดเพชรบูรณ์ โดยได้รับเกียรติจากนายจิรายุทธ วัจนรัตน์ รองผู้ว่าราชการจังหวัดเพชรบูรณ์ นายติรวัฒน์ สุจริตกุล ที่ปรึกษากองงานในพระองค์สมเด็จพระเทพรัตนราชสุดาฯ สยามบรมราชกุมารี ร่วมเป็นประธานเปิดกิจกรรมการตรวจวัดสายตา พร้อมด้วยนางไอริณ จิตต์การุณราษฎร์ ผู้แทนมูลนิธิสงเคราะห์เด็กของสภากาชาดไทย และนายบุญส่ง ไตรภูธร ผู้จัดการฝ่ายกิจกรรมพิเศษ กล่าวถึงที่มาของโครงการ โดยไฮไลต์พิเศษของกิจกรรมในครั้งนี้ ทางโครงการฯ ได้รับเกียรติจาก คุณเป้ อารักษ์ อมรศุภศิริ ดาราหนุ่มสุดฮอต เดินทางมาร่วมกิจกรรมการกุศล และสร้างความบันเทิงให้แก่ผู้สูงวัยในพื้นที่ดังกล่าว พร้อมร่วมชมบรรยากาศกระบวนการตรวจวัดสายตาประกอบแว่นให้กับผู้สูงวัย และการสาธิตการทำหัตถกรรมจากภูมิปัญญาผู้สูงอายุที่น่ายกย่องอันเป็นมรดกล้ำค่าในแบบของชาวจังหวัดเพชรบูรณ์

ปัญหาการเสื่อมประสิทธิภาพของดวงตา เนื่องจากผ่านการใช้งานอย่างหนักมาหลายสิบปี ส่งผลให้ผู้สูงวัยในจังหวัดเพชรบูรณ์จำนวนมากต้องประสบปัญหาในการมองเห็น ถึงขั้นประกอบอาชีพตามปกติไม่ได้ ซึ่งอาชีพหลักที่สร้างรายได้ให้แก่จังหวัด คือ อาชีพเกษตรกรรม และหัตถกรรม อาทิ ทอผ้า จักสาน ฯลฯ ทางโครงการฯ            จึงมีความภาคภูมิใจเป็นอย่างยิ่งที่ได้ให้การช่วยเหลือตรวจวัดสายตา และประกอบแว่นใหม่ให้กับผู้สูงวัยเหล่านี้ และไม่เพียงแต่จะเป็นการสืบสานหัตถกรรมท้องถิ่นแล้ว ยังจะทำให้พวกเขาพบกับคุณภาพชีวิตที่ดีขึ้นได้อีกครั้ง โดยสามารถประกอบอาชีพเลี้ยงดูตนเองได้ดีขึ้น และไม่เป็นภาระต่อบุตรหลานอีกด้วย

“เพชรบูรณ์เป็นจังหวัดที่ 34 ของการดำเนินงานลงพื้นที่ให้ความช่วยเหลือผู้สูงวัย โดยในปี พ.ศ. 2554 นี้ทางโครงการฯ ตั้งเป้าที่จะให้ความช่วยเหลือผู้สูงวัยเป็นจำนวนกว่า 7,000 คน และจะมุ่งเน้นการขยายพื้นที่ให้ความช่วยเหลือผู้สูงวัยในจังหวัดห่างไกลและถิ่นทุรกันดารเพื่อสนองพระราชดำริในสมเด็จพระเทพรัตนฯ ซึ่งหลังจากโครงการได้ริเริ่มดำเนินงานมาตั้งแต่เดือนมกราคม พ.ศ. 2552 จนถึงปัจจุบันรวมจำนวนผู้สูงวัยที่ได้รับบริการไปแล้วทั้งสิ้นกว่า 17,000 คน” นายนพศักดิ์ กล่าว

นายนพศักดิ์ กล่าวต่อว่า เพื่อถวายเป็นพระราชกุศลในการช่วยเหลือผู้สูงวัยให้มีคุณภาพชีวิตที่ดีขึ้น               ทางโครงการฯ มีการกำหนดเป้าหมายจำนวนผู้สูงวัยทั่วประเทศ ที่จะได้รับบริการไว้รวมทั้งสิ้นกว่า 30,000 คน เมื่อสิ้นสุดการดำเนินการโครงการอย่างต่อเนื่องจนครบทั่วทุกภาคของประเทศตลอดระยะเวลา 5 ปีนับตั้งแต่ปี 2552 – 2557 โดยมีผู้ได้รับบริการในแต่ละพื้นที่ประมาณ 400 คนต่อครั้งต่อจังหวัดในปี จากการพิจารณาคัดเลือกผู้สูงวัย โดยกรมพัฒนาสังคมและสวัสดิการ ที่ได้ประสานความร่วมมือกับพัฒนาสังคมและความมั่นคงของมนุษย์จังหวัด (พมจ.) ของแต่ละจังหวัด

สำหรับผู้สูงวัยที่มีอาการทางสายตา และไม่สามารถแก้ไขได้ด้วยการตัดแว่น เช่น มีอาการต้อกระจก ฯลฯ        ทางมูลนิธิฯ จะส่งผู้สูงวัยรายนั้นๆ ไปรักษายัง “ศูนย์รักษาตา ท็อปเจริญจักษุ” ซึ่งเป็นศูนย์รักษาตาที่ตั้งขึ้น โดยห้างแว่นท็อปเจริญเพื่อให้บริการแก่ผู้เป็นโรคทางสายตาและโรคตา ศูนย์รักษาตาท็อปเจริญจักษุ จะให้การรักษา ผู้สูงวัยที่พบว่าเป็นโรคตาที่ไม่สามารถแก้ไขได้ด้วยแว่น ตามโครงการนี้ปีละ 100 ดวงตา โดยไม่คิดค่าบริการรักษาแต่อย่างใด

นางชื่น ชานนท์ ปัจจุบันอายุ 69 ปีอาชีพเกษตรกรรม ผู้สูงวัยในพื้นที่ ต.น้ำหนาว อ.น้ำหนาว จ.เพชรบูรณ์         ที่ได้รับแว่นตาจากโครงการฯ กล่าวว่า “ไม่เคยคิดว่าการมองเห็นจะเป็นสิ่งที่สำคัญกับชีวิตขนาดนี้ จนเมื่อประมาณ 4 ปีก่อน ดวงตาด้านซ้ายมองเห็นไม่ชัดเจน พร่ามัวและปวดแสบเมื่อโดดแสงแดด มองอะไรก็ต้องเพ่งใกล้ๆ ทำให้ประกอบอาชีพไม่สะดวก และใช้ชีวิตประจำวันไม่ปกติ หลังจากที่ได้รับทราบข่าวจากชุมชน จึงได้มาเข้ารับบริการจากโครงการนี้ พร้อมคาดหวังว่าหลังจากได้รับแว่นแล้ว เราจะสามารถกลับมามองเห็นได้ชัดอีกครั้ง และสามารถประกอบอาชีพได้เป็นปกติ และมีความอยู่ที่ดีขึ้นได้”

นางปัน คำยา ปัจจุบันอายุ 70 ปี อาชีพแม่บ้าน และทำเกษตรครัวเรือน ปลูกเห็ด กล่าวว่า ในบั้นปลายชีวิตคนแก่อย่างยาย ไม่ได้ต้องการอะไรมากไปกว่า การที่สามารถดูแลตนเองได้ ไม่เป็นภาระให้ลูกหลาน อะไรก็ตามที่ช่วยลูกหลานได้ก็อยากช่วย ทั้งการหาผัก เก็บเห็ดมาทำอาหารเลี้ยงชีพ หรือนำออกไปขาย ยายยิ่งอยากทำถึงแม้จะอายุมากแล้ว รู้สึกดีใจมากที่ได้รับแว่นตา และขอขอบคุณมากที่มีโครงการดี ๆ เช่นนี้ ทำให้สายตามองเห็นชัดขึ้นจากแว่นตาอันใหม่ ประกอบกับแรงกายและแรงใจที่ยังมีอยู่ สามารถประกอบการงานและกิจกรรมอะไรได้หลายอย่างด้วยความสะดวก และสามารถต่อสู้ชีวิตบั้นปลายของยายได้ต่อไปอีกด้วย”

ด้านดาราหนุ่มสุดฮอต เป้ อารักษ์ อมรศุภศิริ กล่าวถึงความรู้สึกที่ได้เข้าร่วมโครงการว่า “รู้สึกดี และภูมิใจมากที่ตนเองได้มีโอกาสเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของโครงการ “แว่นตาผู้สูงวัยในสมเด็จพระเทพรัตนฯ” นอกจากจะได้มาร่วมสร้างความบันเทิง และมอบความรู้สึกพิเศษๆ ให้กับผู้สูงวัยที่พื้นที่ จ.เพชรบูรณ์นี้แล้ว ยังมีโอกาสได้พูดคุยกับผู้สูงวัย และรับรู้ถึงชีวิต และความยากลำบากของผู้สูงวัยที่ยากไร้ และประสบปัญหาด้านสายตาอีกด้วย หากมีโอกาสที่ผมจะสามารถช่วยเหลืออะไรได้ในครั้งต่อไป ผมก็อยากไปร่วมโครงการนี้ในทุกๆ พื้นที่เลยครับ”

‘Princess Sirindhorn’s Spectacles for the Elderly’ Project Moves Forward to Petchaboon, Continues Rolling out Support for Senior Citizens with Eyesight Problem for the Third Year

   Over 17,000 Senior Citizens Received Support since Project Inauguration in January 2009
   Targeting to Carry out Support to 7,000 Elderly Across the Country in 2011


Top Charoen Optical in partnership with the Thai Red Cross Children Home organizes a field trip to deliver eye test and spectacles making services for over 400 senior citizens in Petchaboon Province. The activity is carried out to continue the progress of ‘Princess Sirindhorn’s Spectacles for the Elderly’ Project in response to the royal intention of HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn for senior citizens in remote areas who have eyesight problem. The project aims to improve the quality of live for the elderly by earning their living and looking after themselves and their offspring better.  The opening ceremony of this activity is jointly presided over by Mr. Jirayut Watjanarat, Governor of Petchaboon and Mr. Tirawat Sucharitakul, Personal Secretary of H.R.H. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. The project is also joined by Thailand’s famous singer and actor - "Pe" Arak Amornsupasiri, who helps keep the local elderly entertained while the demonstration of the much-valued handicraft making by senior citizens is also among other activities.

Mr. Noppasak Treeponchaisak, Managing Director of Top Charoen Optical, reveals information about the project: “The ‘Princess Sirindhorn’s Spectacles for the Elderly’ project is a collaborative effort of Top Charoen Optical and the Thai Red Cross Children Home in response to the royal intention of HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn to help improve the life quality of senior citizens aged over 45 years in remote areas who have eyesight problem. With the project, the elderly are expected to overcome the obstacles caused by eyesight problem, regain their ability to make a living and take better care of themselves. Under this royal benevolence, the elderly across the nation can benefit from the opportunity to have their eyes tested and spectacles made by teams of experts and modern equipment through the field work of Top Charoen Optical. Over 400 senior citizens in Petchaboon will also have an opportunity to get the treatment for diseases showing visual symptoms and consultation on the right way to care for their eyesight. This activity is the reflection of HRH Princess Sirindhorn’s royal graciousness rendered to 400 elderly in Petchaboon Province, who attend the project’s free-of-charge services to have their eyes tested and spectacles made, including those other senior citizens in all parts of the country.”
The activity for the project in May 2011 involves a field trip to Petchaboon Province to carry out support to the local elderly. The opening ceremony is graciously presided by Mr. Jirayut Watjanarat, Governor of Petchaboon and Mr. Tirawat Sucharitakul, Personal Secretary of H.R.H. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, along with Mrs. Irine Jitkarunrat, representative of the Thai Red Cross Children Home and Mr. Boonsong Tribhuthorn, Special Projects Manager, who joins to talk about the background information of the project.
The special highlight of this field trip center around "Pe" Arak Amornsupasiri’s present to participate in this charitable activity by entertaining senior citizens in the area. While the elderly have an opportunity to have their eyes tested and spectacles made by teams of experts, the showcase and demonstration of handicraft making by senior citizens is also among other highlights to reflect Petchaboon’s valuable folk wisdom – the heritage of the residents of Petchaboon areas. The eyesight problem resulted from excessively using the eyes to see while make a living has affected many senior citizens in Petchaboon Province to face with visual challenges, some to the point that they cannot continue with their work. The province’s major income comes from agriculture and local handicrafts, such as silk-weaving, basketry, etc., thus, the project takes pride in helping these seniors by testing their eyesight and have their spectacles made with no cost. It is not only a way to preserve the local handicrafts, but also a support for better life quality, regaining the ability of the elderly to make a living be no burden to their family members.

“Petchaboon is the 34th province that we have carried out the field trip to. In 2011, the project has aimed to roll out the support for over 7,000 senior citizens while expanding the areas for support to more remote provinces in order to respond to the royal intention of HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. After the inauguration of this project in January 2009, we have helped support over 17,000 senior citizens altogether across the nation,” Mr. Noppasak says.

Mr. Noppasak continues: “In order to roll out this royal benevolence to support the elderly for a better quality of life, the project has targeted to benefit a total of 30,000 senior citizens in all parts of the nation throughout the five-year project period from 2009 – 2014 or about 400 people in each visit of a province. The support will be sent to selected senior citizens by the Department of Social Development and Welfare, who has joined hand to collaborate with each Provincial Office of Social Development and Human Security in the area. 

For the elderly facing with certain eye problems that cannot be corrected with use of spectacles, such as cataract, pinguecula, and pterygium, the Thai Red Cross Children Home will facilitate transfer of the cases to Top Charoen Eye Center, which was established by Top Charoen Optical. Top Charoen Eye Center will provide treatment of 100 eyes per year at no cost to the elderly diagnosed with eye problem under this project.
Mrs. Chuen Chanont, aged 69, an elderly farmer residing in Namnao Sub-district, Namnao District of Petchaboon Province, talks about her feeling towards the project: “It never occurred to me before that the ability to see clearly is something crucial in life, until about 4 years ago, when my left eye had lost its clear vision. I could not see very well and every time the eye got contacted to the sunlight, it would be painful for me. To see clearer, I had to look closer, and that had obstructed my livelihood. It was hard for me to make a living and take care of myself on the daily basis. After I heard the news about this project from my community, I have come to attend this service with a hope that after I get my new spectacles made, I will be able to see clearly and regain my ability to make a living again. This will improve my quality of life”.

Mrs. Pan Khamya, aged 70, a housewife and home-grown farmer who grows mushrooms, says: “At this old age like me, the elderly do not want more than to be able to look after themselves and be no burden to other members of the family. If there is anything that we can help our family with, like to collect local vegetables, gathering mushrooms for food or to sell our crops, we would be even more delighted. Today, I am very pleased to receive a new pair of glasses. With them as equipment, coupled with the rest of my energy and spirit to work and to do many activities, I am confident that I can continue my life at an old age conveniently”. 

"Pe" Arak Amornsupasiri, a hot Thai star, talks about his feeling to participate in this project: “I am delighted and proud to be part of the ‘Princess Sirindhorn’s Spectacles for the Elderly’ project. Apart from my job to create entertainment and share special moments with senior citizens in the area of Petchaboon today, I also have opportunities to talk to many of them about their livelihood, their hardship in the living condition, as well as the eyesight problem they encounter. For the next activity of this project, I would like to contribute my support for the elderly in other areas as well. In fact, if possible, I’d love to join the field trips of this project in every province”.
